Congratulations on a very comprehensive win for Salford. I like many Lions fans felt that today would have been much closer but we were given a lesson in line and passing speed and it clearly highlighted the gulf between Super League and the Championship.
I was very disappointed with the attendance and this cannot bode well for your clubs future, those fans who voted with their feet..shame on them, today was about making a massive statement of intent and that opportunity has been missed.

The banter between those in attendance was good to say the least and it was nice to see fans from Warrington and Oldham in attendance. Still not impressed with the atmosphere that the Barton Stadium lacks, almost 2000 at the old Willows or for that matter Station Rd would have been significantly better.

I was also a bit scepticle about the bucket collectors on route to the ground as non of them were carrying any form of official ID and with respect the monies collected possibly may not have ended up as intended, credit to those who were collecting in the right manner and I trust it was a sucessful collection.

I was the the tiny one on stadium way as you were heading towards the ground and I had no official ID because I'm not a club official, be assured though if you put in, the money went to the right place and not my 'beer fund' as some people seem to think!!!

And to the Salford fan who had a pop at me for not selling season tickets, I do apologise next time I'll have as many you want on sale *tw*t*

By the way Ginge it was very ignorant of you to just walk out of the Unicorn yesterday without saying hello i was most upset, especially as my mate Mich didn't come and say hello at the game either.

It was well advertised there was a bucket collection and I think if rogue collectors were out and about they'd have been spotted soon enough. It would've been good going to organise identical buckets and signs to everyone else who was collecting en route and get away with the cash without being clocked. Especially as the people involved are fairly well known.



Well as I don't know who you are it would've been a bit hard to come and say hello. Can't say I would've been too fussed about finding out, either.

If someone was collecting cash unofficially, don't you think those who'd organised the official collection would have soon got wind of it? Especially as they were stood on the approach to the stadium?

What is "official"?

I haven't posted on this site for quite some time however I would like to thank 2 gentlemen who were sat next to me. They used to live in Hull & were originally HKR supporters but now live in Liverpool & having made many visits to watch Catalan & made numerous friends over there they are now Catalan supporters.
Yesterday they came as neutral supporters to lend their support & contribute to Salford's cause, I just wish that more people in this vicinity would offer a helping hand however small.

As Iain says, what is "official"? Why would people collecting money unofficially to help save the club have club badges on?

Also, the road up to the ground is on private land - owned by the SMC. G4S will have been told where people are collecting, given a rough idea of who they are and so on. Knowing how on top they are on most things they certainly wouldn't let anyone be there without permission.

Still, it's easier to just snipe and assume people are dodgy, I guess. I'm assuming you put money into a bucket nearer the ground once you were happy they were "official"?

I have to say in Marshy's defence myself and Jo commented the same thoughts to.ourselves. the only bucket holder we saw that we knew was both ave it and his lil bro.

As indirectly part of my ticket price is refunded back to salford by our club the mere fact that I bought four tickets is ample donation add to that the purchase of two cup cakes and I think that was sufficient for now.

Iain, you have to agree that some for of ID card could have been issued to the collectors froom the Salfords fans perspective they may well have been known to many of you from the Swinton and other fans perspective they wasn't.
I saw the figure raised and it was a good effort but in this day and age you have to take care to cover the chancer.

By the way Ginge I forgot to add i also purchased £5 worth of Draw tickets inside the ground and if your club had really pulled their finger out( bearing in mind the possible adverse outcome of the petition hearing) I would have bought a match day programme.As it was there wasn't even a team sheet available, i might have chucked a £1 at one of those also.

Marshy they're were programs, albeit very thin ones with the team sheets on.

Highlight for me was Snyed again with the boot. I really can't stress how refreshing it is to see Salford to convert tries. As good as Holdsworth was with ball in hand, his kicking ability was poor. Fages seems to get a lot of attention, next big thing etc, honestly believe from my point of view Sneyd will turn out to be the better prospect.
