Spoke about talking to Francis Cummings about how he dealt with things at the Bulls when there was little communication from the board.

Radio Mcr have just interviewed Stuart Duffy, Media Manager (I think) at Bradford Bulls. Wasn't the most insightful interview; said how Bradford fans raised £500k in a month which didn't stop administration but bought time, then he said that all clubs have different Salary Caps.

For me it was just another fluffy pipedream head in the sand statement from SJW.
His statement that we will be potentially make a profit due to a robust plan or mewas simply delusional. They've not managed it for years why will now be any different unless they are expecting to pay peanuts for playing staff .

Granada Reports have painted a slightly different picture; more emulsion than gloss. They say Salford are contacting Peel to see if they would still be willing to part with the £750k they would have met the Council with. This would certainly help with cashflow and meet the immediate concerns of the winding-up petition. Otherwise, the club is heading for administration.

More hot air I fear. I really feel sorry for all Salford fans who have had to put up with this hot air since about last July. It more and more looks like an excercise in trying to get to the beginning of the season, playing a game then hoping for help like Bradford got. So more investors have now come out of the woodwork.....of course they have John. If true then great but I expect them to 'pull out at the last minute' and disappear from whence they came and no names will ever be mentioned. Temporary cash flow problem probably means no one is getting paid at Christmas time.

There is one week to Xmas, then many businesses will close until the 3rd January. The winding up hearing is very early in January. If it has taken this long to try and negotiate a loan, how long will it take to negotiate with investors?

An indicator might be if the friendly goes ahead on the 30th December.

BBC had interviews with locals on the precinct. The apathy was predictable including the guy who.just simply said he didn't care.
That is the reason why Salford will never make it. The people of Salford really don't care about the rugby team they have.
The rugby team going under really won't be a loss to the city at all.

I fear you're correct here.

This argument seems to wind-up some Salfordians, but it's there for all to see. Even when we were reasonably successful in the recent past back to the early seventies, we have rarely pulled-in significant numbers compared to per head of the population of Salford. Even a fair few of the hardcore actually reside outside, and are not, from Salford as shown by a previous thread a month or so ago.

The odd big crowd for a Lancs Cup late stage game or a final game at the Willows count for very little.

Says the business plan backed by KPMG. Well, you're safe because as we all know, they made a cracking effort in rubber-stamping Bradford's plans.

The seventies attendances averaged around 7000. But that was mostly home support not everyone owned a car back then like today. Salford has the potential to average 8500 gates with the right formula especially with impressive away support from most clubs we've seen recently.

Don't overestimate the away support, a lot of that was just wanting to be at their team's first game in the new stadium.
IMHO there is a fundamental question as to what the actual market is - just how many bums on seats can SCR achieve ?
