| Good coverage today in the MEN - half the back page advertising the Hull KR game and pushing a £10 ticket promotion for a family of 4 for the same match.
Ring 0844 888 0200 and quote BIGREDSDAY to get your ticket.
We could really do with as many people as possible taking this offer up.

| Big opportunity for those who prefer 3pm afternoon kick offs to turn out in numbers for this one, especially with this offer on. Am hopefully gonna talk a few people from work into coming to this game. Hope everyone brings extra family/friends and we get a good crowd on.

| For those who haven't seen today's M.E.N:
Top offer! Hope loads get on this. Well done the club too for getting this done, I've often criticised the marketing we see, credit where it's due though.

| Good offer, it is good to see Salford do things like this to try and get the crowds in.

| If that doesnt help your crowds nothing will, i was at the game Friday and thought the atmosphere was a little low from your speccies but rome wasnt built in a day but with Sale moving in they are going to be the bigger draw when it comes to the floating fan i have nothing but fear for your club once Sale are getting 10k each week.

Theres nothing to say Sale will bring 10,000 fans. It may be that the support they gained around South Manchester wont travel to Barton. And dont forget, they will have the same problems with car parks etc as us, maybe putting their fans off as well..

I agree. There seems to be a few Sale fans feeling a little alienated by what their club are doing at the minute. Sadly though, I think they'd be more than capable of attracting new fans to Barton - much more than us, like that time they played in Bolton.

| Problem is Sale have a professional and very good marketing team behind the scenes, so even if they do leave some fans behind they are bound to attract others from around the local area. This is one of my biggest fears, Sale are in competition with us to grab the new fan so to speak, a fan who's unsure about the two codes and how different they are will no doubt be drawn to Sale (even though rugby league is by far the better product on field) because they have the resources and skill to do. Knowing Salford we'll just sit back and watch Sale nick all our potential support from under our noses.
We need to get fans in now and get them bitten by the rugby league bug. The offer the club has put on for the KR is a step in the right direction, but still a lot more needs to be done before its too late.

You forgot to mention that they have lots of money to back those campaigns up too. IIRC, the RFU also threw some money at them to both stage and promote the game at the Reebok and it wouldn't surprise me if the RFU make regular marketing contributions to them, can you imagine the RFL doing that for us, or any RL team for that matter? I think the RFL need to adopt a similar position to the RFU - who recognise that Sale are their only North West Premiership side surrounded by big name RL clubs trying to 'break' that dominance.
Sale aren't really targetting us Salford fans, they're targetting anyone with a sporting interest in Greater Manchester - our target audience too of course, but their ambition is wider than ours as they're promoting the whole game of RU against RL whereas we're pitching in an already saturated market, e.g. despite Salford being the closest SL club to Rochdale on the right side of the Pennines, I'm the only Salford supporter at my 8 year old Son's amateur club, there's Saints, Leeds, Bradford and Wigan fans there (now that has a familiar look doesn't it?) and their kids follow those teams but the real irony is that only my Son regularly goes to watch SL live, there was even an advert in the Oldham Chronicle last week for a Hudds Giants game. Those examples show that we can't ever hope to lure existing fans away from Saints, Wigan, Warrington etc. and the RFL need to understand how really bloody difficult it is even if Sale weren't in the mix and to some extent, they're the least of our worries. I think that if the RFL want a 'Manchester' conurbation team, i.e. us to succeed and pull in more fans then they should help us to at least mirror, or up the ante on, any marketing that Sale do and additionally declare Manchester, Salford and it's satellite towns a 'no go' zone for marketing for ALL other SL clubs.

| I've just rang the ticket office to see if I can transfer my season tickets to the East stand for the game as my brother has purchased a family ticket via this offer but was told it is highly unlikely as the East stand is nearly full already. Sounds like a good crowd could be in the offing!!

| If we are loking towards the play offs we need to be beating those around us and that will apply to Hull KR. Looking forward to a good competitive game and a high scoring game weather permitting as we both seem to be conceding a lot of points at the moment.

| Virtually every post on every thread on this forum is negative. Everyone at the club is a liar and we are going out of existance in the very near future according to 75 per cent of posters on here. We may as well give up now, we are so fragmented as a club from the board to the players to the fans. Now more than ever we need to get behind each other and start a fresh otherwise we will go to the wall. We are Salford, we aren't Wigan, Warrington, Saints, Leeds or even Huddersfield for that matter, we shouldn't be competing with these clubs because we don't have the funds to be able to. We should be competing for where we are now, top 8 and that is all! If and it is a big IF at the moment this joint venture is successful maybe we will have the resources to compete for top 4 or 5 but for that to happen everybody needs to be pulling in the same direction and get over themselves! We are playing some of the best rugby I have ever seen from a Salford side and scoring heavily in most games but that still isn't good enough for lots of people and I just don't get it.

My thoughts too. Plus, if Ledge is referring to my post as being negative I'm puzzled as I was attempting to put some perspective around people's reaction to Sale ground sharing with us, I was merely pointing out that competition for new fans is way more affected by our proximity to other SL sides such as Saints, Wigan and Warrington et al than it is by any RU side, Sale coming in with an alternative sport just adds a plank to the bonfire!!

| It wasn't aimed at you on any level to be honest. Joint venture probably isn't the best phrase to use but there is some kind of relationship, would that be fair to say? I was referring mainly to the fact that I relayed what I was told by the ticket office and was basically laughed at. Why does everything anyone from the club has to say automatically be BS? I just feel we as a set of fans are very negative towards many things that are happening involving the club/board/stadium/Sale at the moment when we really need to get behind the team especially as they are, in the main, playing so well and entertaining us. I am just trying to be positive as I can about the move even though I am not 100 per cent in the loop regarding how it benefits/weakens us as a club. Tarry today said it would reduce our rent, I know that is contrary to what he said on GMR the other week but today that is what he has come out with. Surely at least that can only be good news? For the record, I absolutely hate Union and thing it's the most boring sport ever and would never go to watch Sale or any other Union club/country for that matter.

I was expressing cynicism towards the stadium Management Company - who've not exactly covered themselves in glory this season. Northing to do with the club. Calm down.
