| it did annoy me on Granada Tonight that sales verson of Dave Tarry said
"if the price was right we will look at playing at Barton"
Why should be stadium company bend over backwards for sale, the price is the price and if sale dont think its a good price they know where stockport is
I too would welcome United reserves

| Would prefer Sale mainly in the hope that we would get offered a discount on tickets for their games as quite fancy all year round and especially watching some of the European games that Sale play.

| I'd prefer MUFC reserves as it gives a wider base of support to raise awareness of our club and facilities to - and also a group of fans who may not already have decided their rugby of choice. Oh, and football isn't a sport that's be actively trying to damage Rugby League for 117 years.

| Utd reserves for me every day of the week (not literally, obviously as the pitch would take a pasting!). Hopefully, they'd let Salford season ticket holders in free as well.

| I heard mufc were snubbed before the red developments collapse and we refused to sit around the table for talks. Well done stadium management company common sence has prevailed.

| Brilliant news for you this. Sale are in decline and Stockport County are sorting themselves out.
Man Utd Reserves is a far better fit.

It could make a real mess of the pitch.
If i remember rightly blackburn once kick up a fuss at the lsv because the pitch wasnt up to standards ,i think they even threatened to pull out, could be wrong though. Also i'm not sure if Genesis were there at the time.

| It'd be mint to have United reserves on to raise the profile.
So that makes the ratio of those with sense who'd like to see a top sporting side, well-supported locally and known throughout the world at Barton to those who'd like to see a team from a boring sport which tried to kill off rugby league, with little to no support in the area instead at 11 to 1. Comprehensive, really.
I'd love to know what the reasoning behind not wanting a football side there yet welcoming a rugby union side with open arms is.

Personal sporting preference?
What sort of crowds do UTD reserves currently attract?

Depends on the draw of the fixture, can be a few hundred, can be over a thousand. Some games have attracted a few thousand people as well, if it's a big enough occasion. But the games are always broadcast on MUTV and there's full match reports and home venue details on the website. Even ignoring the attendances, the stadium itself will be opened up to a huge audience.

Well for me I enjoy watching RU and would look to getting a Sale season ticket and watch all year round rugby. I have no interest in football and find the commerciality and especially the wages paid to its players disgusting. There is also the attitude and actions of the fans that puts me off football.

On the premise that the stadium company may only have to open one stand and still get (presumably) the same costs that we pay, I can see the benefit.

| As many of you know I'm not a United fan, far from it, but I think you'd need to blind not to see the potential benefits of have Man Utd, at whatever level, playing at Barton, with their worldwide coverage (via MUTV) it opens up to a huge audience and [ipotential[/i sponsorship opportunities.
I'd suggest that they would get bigger crowds at Barton than they do at Altrincham with Salford being such a Utd hotbed (I know they got 700 for the game against Liverpool back in a mid-week game in December).
I for one never understood why they never played at the Willows, could you imagine a one of united’s big name making an injury comeback in a reserve game (not that that happens much these days, but back in the day) I would imagine a few thousand would have turned up at the Willows and maybe even at Barton.

| Football agent I know bought one of the boxes at the stadium and he has no interest in Rugby League (at the moment !) so had an idea this would happen and it makes sense for all concerned.

Well being local, I would have gone to a fair few matches.
