| No idea where that scoreline comes from - Saints deserved the win, no doubt, but just goes to show how the "big" side will get the rub of the green
Obviously next week, all those 50/50 decisions will go Salfords way against Widnes................
Great performance, and if we can play like that against sides at our level, we should win quite a few, but we made 3 mistakes when it mattered
Wild penalty on the 5th tackle
Patton pass missing Williams
Nero knock on
There were some decisions that even surprised the sky boys, and they were gagging for a Saints win.
Well done Salford, i dont know if we could ever have done enough to engineer a win today, it simply wasnt written in the stars.

| Dropping the ball at the line kills teams.
I also think the VR was unkind to Salford, on another night they could have had a penalty try and the Saints tries could have easily be scratched off

| You say deserved to win but I have a slightly different view. Saints were a team tonight who were invited into the game by some questionable video ref decisions and a penalty count that made Salford defend for a long period at the start of the second half. Then as usual when they hit the front they were able to turn it on. Had they had to fight all the way thru like they did in the first half we may have had more of a chance. We weren't allowed top play in the second half.
Video ref disallows Gibson try for held up and yet Saints get one given that did not touch the ground.
Yes we bombed tries again after a 40-20 & a penalty on first tackle but we were already suffering from fatigue and the pressure of being behind. I know we have deficiencies but they are tripled when we get caned by refs.

| 1st half performance was great, but couldn't carry it over. I don't remember us actually completing a set in their half in the 2nd half, just constantly losing it on the first couple of tackles or simply handing the possession over. We left points on the field with the field position and chances we had.
The 'benefit of the doubt' rule is a crock of $hit. I know it's in the rules, but if you can't see the ball touching the ground, it shouldn't be given. Simple as that. Couldn't properly see the screen properly to give a full opinion, but if it takes the video ref five times to view it and give 'benefit of the doubt' for one and then he takes five views of another to decide, surely we should be awarded that same benefit of the doubt.
Better team overall won on the night, shame the margin was so big because we didn't deserve it for the effort we put in.

| Your first half was outstanding. It was playoff quality defense and you looked dangerous in attack as well. But with it being so early in the season, it's impossible to maintain the level of intensity and the concentration you were showing in the first half. You controlled the play the ball without being indisciplined and being punished by the ref and you got up and at Saints very quickly and in numbers and never once did you fail to number up. But after an hour you were done and the score went away from you leaving you with an undeserved scoreline that most who read the score tonight and tomorrow will assume was a regulation home win, which it wasn't.
I think there is plenty to be optimistic about for you guys. Your playing stock is relatively weak, but they look superbly coached and very committed. Phil V is the head coach, but you can see Long's influence all over your performance and you'll do well to keep him there. He's going to be a superb coach if he doesn't end up coaching RU, which I fear is what his playing for Grasshoppers is all about.

| The score wasn't a fair reflection but you're defo up against it this year. Fortunately Shaun Wane is coaching Wigoon so there's four points right there

34-0 second half, it was a game of two halfs you played well in one and were destroyed in the other. Its an 80 minute game not 35

They did miss the PTB knock-on but you have clearly missed a change in the rules this year: if a player passes/offloads just as the ref calls held then he is allowed to re-start with a ptb. Admittedly Hohaia's stretched the rule a bit but it was legit. Good performance by Salford but reminded me of England v Aus - we can get in front and look the best team but they usually turn on the top quality stuff late and blow us away.

| Thought the first half was one of the best Ive seen Salford play for a while controlled the pace of the game and made Saints very frustarted in the first half.
We knew we couldnt go toe to toe with the forwards so used out wide extremely effectively, with our centre/wing partnerships we have the potential to score many trys.
Moon was very impressive as was Williams who put in some big hits for a winger.
One down side for me was the kicking game, Longy needs to pull Smith / Holdsworth to one side for a good talking to, as we lost plenty of yardage on the last tackle kicking it straight down the FB's throat and allowing them to run half way back up the field.

| Salford were outstanding in the 1st half.
Some big positives to be taken from that game, despite the 2nd half.

| Very encouraging performance, we should get better as the season goes on. Pity about the disruptive injuries and referee Silverwood who just does not like Salford (fact) and a V.R. who did not want to upset Saints. He is always the same for the BIG clubs, you watch and see

That rule has changed this season , if the ref calls held and the player passes or runs off with the balll and the ref feels he didnt hear the call its not a penalty but as was done last night , tackle count continues from that. it happened during the Widnes Wakey Game as well.

| think Salford big weakness is your lack of pack strength.
Both Cas and now Saints have worn down Salford then physically dominated them in the second half.
The backs you have are fine. Not much wrong there. You have pace and some decent quality. You just need some added beef in the pack.

| chair maker, you say what we fans have been saying for some time... we missed Fekka last night (and last season I never thought I'd ever say that).
big question is whether we can show that kind of skill and performance against the lesser lights of superleague

| Impressed with your defence first half.
Kicking game was as bad as it gets.
Also imo there is a distinct lack of conditioning in the Salford Squad, 10 mins into the second half you had guys on the their hands stretching hamstings and two weeks on the trot you've fell away at the end. Shame that, as conditioning is something even the less talented squads can get right.

| OK I admit I didn't go to the game or see it on Sky, but when a qualified referee makes a point of stopping me in Aldi and making a comment about how biased silverwood was and the pressure of sky to get the right result seemed very strange to me. Even the Sts fan at Old Trafford today thought Salford were given the very short straw.

| Ok,the refs bent, but it was`nt him who missed the tackles,he did give some great passes out to create their tries though and he foolishly went to the vr when he was positive Makinson scored in the corner, you know to even things up like, come on,i was there and i thought it was a try.Silverwood was seen pleading for forgiveness from the sts players and was giving obscene gestures to the v.ref . On a serious note i do feel v.refs should be employed at every game and not just on the tv games.

totally agree VR at every match but if we look back a few years when we played Hull and 2 no trys were given by the VR and SL introduced sound to the VR after that game because of the total cock up, it just makes me wonder why we have them. If not at every game then SL is unfair but if they can not get it right when they are there then get rid. Currently Wigan, Leeds, Warrington et al have a better change of getting a VR than Salford so it makes the league unfair.

Agree totally,we have all seen refs stood no more than a yard away from a incident where a try might of been scored or not,but still go to the vr,yet in a untelevised game looks at the fourth official and his touch judges and gives his decision their and then.
