| Not that I am expecting this to be an issue anytime soon but if/when the board see sense and get rid of the useless Aussie who would be a good choice to succeed him? I don't feel Alker is a credible candidate, given that I like the idea of a young British coach in the ilk of Daryl Powell, Dennis Betts or Iestyn Harris. I'm really interested to see what other people think about this?

| [iI would like to see Mr Betts given a chance that's if the Salford City Reds board decided to part company with head-coach McRae be in soon or in the future.

| It doesn't really matter.
After a few bad results the 'faithful' will be baying for blood and wanting a change. You'd think that we as fans would have thicker skin seeing as we are well used to watching us getting beaten on a regular basis.

| Surely Alker now has his sights set on being head coach after McRae.

Why we haven't thought of either of these two is beyond me.

Won't happen though unfortunately.
Wouldn't be surprised at Ian Millward. Would be even less surprised at McRae being kept on until Alker is 'ready' to take the reigns.

More likely to be availble , John Cartwrights star is rising in the NRL, 2nd in league , I know your saying:- who in his right mind would want to live on the Gold Coast and manage a premiership chasing NRL side when he could be at the Willows next season having abuse hurled at him

Two seasons of dire rugby with Mcrae in charge (after promotion) is hardly 'a few bad results'.

| I'd happily settle for Brian Noble, as he seems to have a positive effect wherever he goes, and get's his players producing a good style of rugby. I like Nobby.
However, I've got a feeling that the earlier suggestion of SM passing the reigns over to Alker is the most likely scenario. I hope I'm wrong.

SM must be on a watertight contract as otherwise he would surely have been on a Qantas back to Sydney

| DC, I wasn't suggesting that this will happen any time soon, as I too can't see SM leaving whilst he's still under contract.

| If Mcrae does leave / is pushed in the future id hope its after the franchise has been decided, i recon Ian Millward would be a good coach, great attacking flowing rugby, bad defence (nothing new we watch that now) with Alker @ number 2 he would tighten that up
Probably depends how leigh do in the franchise system i surpose.

| The last person we need is Betts, think he is uninspiring and from what friends in Gloucester say he has been carried for years down there. It beggers belief people mention him when he was not a good option when at Wigan as a coach and has hardley done anything of note in RU since then, if ever there is a case of living off former glories then he is the definate epitomy of this.
I'll go for a quality Aussie at the end of next season, new ground, a better quality playing sqaud and a not to shabby junior set up. I'd personally do some research and find the best 2nd in command in the NRL and offer it him, give him the oppertunity to make a name for himself and then hopefully give him the chance to grown with an improving team and lead us to better and happier times.
