i'm fed up of all this bull from the club and other sources! A future in the national leagues seems likely.

This stadium issue has made the club look a joke since Red City ceased to exist, built up the hopes of fans by releasing the artisits impressions of the grand design, saying were gonna be at the top end of earners/salary cap and basically become world beaters....what a let down again, I dont know how long this can keep going on for.....oh hang on 2011 when the next franchises are dished out and then the club wont need a new shiney 20000 seater stadium for the national leagues.

Just to echo what has been said fooking disgraceful, im not looking forward to national league with crowds of 1,000.

Salford Star articles on construction projects tend to be overly negative & critical (for example Wilky's proposals to regenerate & rejuvenate Buille Hill Park and the museum) so I'm not taking anything in there as the whole picture

I had a funny feeling about this in March when Funding was annouced for the building of new colleges nationally, only 8 colleges out of 87 got the go ahead, Bolton being one of them. But this will only be paid over 5 years from the LSC, the other colleges will be looked at in due time, but the LSCs' will be replaced in 2010, with local authorities getting the purse for further education, so Salford College may get the money then. Either way I now don't think the new stadium will ever be built and we enjoy our three years in Super League and get used to playing in the National League after that. If we would have started building when we said, we were the first with a Casino plan, ignored by the Government, then it was the retail space, copied by Peel expanding the TC, next the Hotel, again copied by Peel followed by the college us copying Leigh. Now nothing, IMO Salford should have let us build at West One before that was built, there was plenty of room there and it had all the transport links and nearby facilities to attract large crowds, none of this can be offered at Barton or will be offered at Barton, Salford Council knew this but as many of the concillors don't actually care for sport they were not going to do anything about it. So ten years down the line and we are still at the starting line, and at this rate we will never leave the starting blocks.

i for one wont be renewing my season ticket if we drop out of super league! it was bad enough last year! Dont know why i should show any loyalty and appreciation towards the club when they just feed us with tripe and false hopes! absolute joke

remember this is just year 1 of 3!

I know that we don't have much of a chance without a new stadium but a lot can happen in 3 years.

We could become strong enough in other areas to keep us up,
Other teams stadiums could fall through,
There could be a miracle and ours could get built!

One step forward two steps back! It wont be built but we are not the only ones . There are plenty of other clubs in the same boat and the rfl are going to have to consider the financial climate when the applications go back in.

I bet u all we are hanging on till the end of the franchise then it wil be built.

You must understand why people are upset about yet another set back regarding the stadium? So much hinges on it, not least the next round of franchise applications.

If the RFL use the stadium criteria to remove any club from SL it will be a discrace

Genuinely sorry to hear of this latest setback , stick with John , I have no doubt he will be looking at all avenues to try to get something back on the table

Granted, but I don't understand how whining at the club helps anyone? Is it the club's fault the College fund hasn't materialised? Or the Hotel/Casino funding before that?
How does getting p*ssy at those who've staked time, money and effort into the project, for only the good of the rugby club, help here??

I understand that completely, but I don't think people are having a moan for moanings sake. I'm more nervous than anything else as to what the next step is because every avenue the club have explored has turned into nothing (outside of the clubs control, I know).

and here lies the problem with franchising.
A big deal was made of your impending move to a state of the arte facilility to attract the good folk of Manchester to SL, a sport they have avoided for over 100 years.
It stopped being about results, it became about peripherals.
Sport is about results, the best clubs generate cash to aid good results, the smaller teams have good periods and bad ones, let the cream rise etc
Scrap the smokescreen that is franchising, it has already failed, get back to P&R and create 2 divisions of FT RL and let clubs concentrate on entertaining fans and winning games.
