| Is it me or do Salford not market any of our games, no posters, no flyers, no promotions, no nothing! Against Catalan we are going to be lucky to get 2,500 you would think the club would try and promote the game to get the fans through the gates, why do we not give flyers out to people, leave them in local super markets so people can pick them up and take note that a game is actually happening,
Its a joke its meant to be our most important year in the top flight and yet the marketing seems to be non existent, the people who the run the club are a joke and Mr Wilky needs to grow some Balls and make tough decisions, and get people who now how to run a club.
Does anyone really think even with our new stadium (if we get it) getting 3,000 every game and coming bottom or 2 bottom of the league we are actually going to get one??? Even if Wakey & CAS don’t get stadiums they get 6,000 a game and will finish in a decent position in the table, something needs to change and fast but its Salford and it wont.

| I have said it so many times, how poor is our marketing of the club! Salford do not believe in marketing the club, those responsible for marketing the club are in a time warp!

| In the post-modernistic society which we are currently in, marketisation is at the forefront of almost every area of life. Unfortunately this appears to have been overlooked by the club of late.
Unless, all available resources are being put into promoting the club once we enter the new stadium. A kind of saving up period before making a massive assault on the general public in 2 years time...

| I listen to rock radio....and am really impressed by the adverts for the phoenix ice hockey and the city cup ties, they are witty and stand out....although I hate football...I at least knew when the game was being played.... and have been tempted to go to the ice hockey just to see what the crack is

| Does anyone believe that posters, leaflets, radio ads, etc. will increase attendances?
More importantly, does anyone believe that they will increase attendances significantly enough to pay for the posters, leaflets, radio ads, etc?
If not, then it's not good marketing - good marketing pays for itself (and usually brings in a profit).
Perhaps, having tried several marketing campaigns, the club are simply minimising losses?

| I've said it before and i'll say it again, someoen from the club needs to approach the uni in Manchester and see if any of the advertiseing students want the chance of getting their work out there. I can't see any good reason why it would have an adverse effect and should there be the next Sachii wunderkind floating about they might at some point down the line look at Salford and remember who gave them the beginings of thier big break.
Feint heart never fukked a pig so someone at the club grow a pair and go for it.

| we need some way to make the game highly visible top the public, problem is the very small budget we have.
With Peel being our partner I'd like to think we could exploit that, even if leaflets were in their displays, the team photo in a more visible position or more of them in the eating places and close to everydoor.
We need to create a buzz and the on field isn't doing that, use Adamson more as he is articulate and young. The shop is another issue, we need to have items fans wear on days that aren't match days, items for kids to take to school.

Whats the point in having a marketing department then?
I've got an idea lets not try anything and continue as we are as that seems to be working dosen't it?
FWIW I too don't think just leaflets and posters will work, but we MUST try something at the moment it seems like someone is getting paid for doing naff all.

Great idea, you're hired! You should fit in just fine!?!
Quote ="Ave It!"Whats the point in having a marketing department then?'"
Seriously, that's kinds the point I was trying to make. I'm not sure what the point is at present and, until our marketing work starts to raise attendances, pay for itself and even starts to make us a profit it just seems to be a drain on the club.
Quote ="Ave It!"FWIW I too don't think just leaflets and posters will work, but we MUST try something at the moment it seems like someone is getting paid for doing naff all.'"
Agreed. My original point is that posters and leaflets are almost certainly NOT the way forward.
I will be completely honest and say I don't know what the way forward is (unlike some of the numpties on here who always seem to know best, whatever the topic) but then I'm not employed within our marketing department.

Good anythings better than my current job.
I don't know what the answer is either, but things did seem a lot better when Trish was here the Golden Angel scheme was fantastic. I know its not possible to do what Trish did at every game, but she did a great job getting the sponsorship to fund such a scheme and IMO we could do with something like that again (finding a company willing to sponsor won't be easy though).
Look at Wigan (yes I know its Wigan and probably not the best example considering the size of the club), but last year they gave a load of free tickets away to Heinz and got their second or third biggest attendance against Catalan. I honestly don't think we'll have anything to lose if we try something similar. Ok there will be a cost to the club to do something along those line, but surely that will be made back up in beer, food, merchandise and maybe just maybe a handful might attend a few games during the season.

| each week I get a text and an email telling me about the match, which is all well and good but I am already going, we need to get a list of mobile numbers of non-fans and bombard them with texts as well and added to it,"only ÂŁ10 entrance with this text message."
as for marketing use the space at Barton a design painted onto the floor where the ground will be advertising the next match

good idea but I don't see how it would cost the club a penny?? surely the people who gained these tickets woulsnt have been coming in the first place so the club wouldnt lose out on ticket sales and as you rightly say the revenue from beer, food and merchandis. And most importantly should the team perform the odd new recruit in the stands. These are all pretty much common business practices and it astounds me that Wilky as a very sharp operator doesnt see this for himself and insist the club try it.
Personally I think whoever is in charge of promotion and marteking at the club should fall on their sword and they are utterly inept. We as a club are less in the publics sphere of awareness than at any point in the last 20 years for me.

| We should get bands on at half time, like the wombats? In the summer let kids play on the pitch for half an hour after matches, start posters again and things like that? I'd say it'd be worth a try.

We should programme it to send an e-mail out to every e-mail of some1 from Salford if that is possible?

| Marketing is done by being creative, I agree doing leflets maybe does not work but remember every successful business start with marketing its product successfully, just letting people know you are around gives positive steps. to continually do nothing will result in the product drying up,

i haven't heard of any this season, not doubting you, but why don't they give them to the local rugby clubs under 16's. if they give a 1000 for the 'lesser games' out and everyone turned up (i know that wouldn't happen), at least the stadium looks better.

| giving away free tickets won't work without a constant presence in the city will, all be it a little slower. free tickets mean people who would pay don't and people who wouldn't normally come won't be converted into die hards over the course of one game.
i've been running nightclubs in the city centre for getting on 20 years and if all i did was give away a few feebies a couple of times a year i'd have been out of business years ago. i also have to make sure the musics good.
so i guess salford are failing on both fronts.

| Some good points being made her about the quality of the offering (and I'd go beyond the actual game here and include the wider match experience). I have a couple of work colleagues who have been asking about making an evening of a few post work drinks, a game, and back into town, but to be honest I don't really want to: a) make them fork out ÂŁ18 to endure what we're serving up (and I could also include not wanting them to endure the beer the Willows is serving up), and b) embarrass myself by making them think that entertainment as poor as what is currently on offer is what got me hooked on this sport.

| Iain:
What good points you make, i over the years have introduced new fans who have stayed with the club, but I am reluctant to add new ones at present. What is on offer in terms of marketing the club & the playing side, the whole experience apart from us die hards you are just not going to enjoy.
The sooner the build starts the better! the problem is if this drags on much longer before the build starts we will not have supporters to fill the stadium.
