I feel as if this signing deserves its own thread because, of all the signings we've made, including securing the former Australian Kangaroos coach on a 3 year contact, he's been the most talked about by far; the most mentioned on social media; the most searched on google and easily the most unexpected.

Phil, a former bouncer from Huddersfield who's had more than his fair share of run-ins with the Law, has been a bit of a journeyman throughout his rugby league career. A quick glance at his appearances shows we'll be his ninth club in just over 10 years; he's also represented Wales at international level and plans to do so again next month.

As I posted on here not too long ago and The Sun newspaper have subsequently confirmed, the club were almost certain that they'd secured the signature of Ukuma Tai'a from Huddersfield. He seems however to have renegaded on this and subsequently resigned with the Giants. I make the presumption Phil Joseph was a late replacement secured after we learned we'd missed out on Ukuma.

I'm glad to have him at the club. Got to admit, I've always liked him. Whenever he's played against us he's turned into Paul Gallen. He's an impact prop who has previously played at hooker so provides us with utility potential as well. All teams need players like Phil and, unlike some of our previous players, I wouldn't class him as a mercenary. He also wont be in any cliques like the Kiwi boys were last season. Good worker and grafter. Rhino would have loved to have had him back in 2006!

Not really a Marquee signing, I think you would have been better with Lesley Joseph.

For me he is a great signing as he has always looked a real battering ram when we have played against him. If we can work on cutting out the penalties then I think he could be a really good signing. He seems like a chaep option but adds some serious size and power to the pack which I think will help compensate for the loss of Moz and Taylor.

A lot of wrong assumptions on Joseph here, he's not a penalty machine. He's probably the most inconsistent prop we've had in SL. His attack when in the mood is very good and he can be a real handful, but don't expect a quick PTB, and in defence for the last 12-18 months he hasn't looked interested. His technique and his retreat are very lazy. I wasn't bothered in the slightest that we'd released him (a year of his contract left with us - we cut our losses for a reason).

I have just got back from holiday, to see the signings. A bit underwhelmed with some of the signings but overwhelmed with our top signing of Tim Sheens.
But let us hope a good pre season with Tim Sheens makes us into a TEAM
