I don't think Swinton have been forgotten. It seems to me that it's more an observation on Marwan and how people react to him. Fans of certain clubs - one in particular - like to obsess over him, and always in the negative. So, you'll see lengthy threads about what he says on Twitter, provided it can in some way be used to criticise him, but you can be pretty sure that those same people won't mention this particular gesture.
