Quote ="Early Bath"Agree but watch on the video how many times Wigan play the ball with the foot - very rare - most roll it quickly between their legs and at pace - creates quite an advantage - many Leeds players very adept too such as Maguire, Webb but Peacock is the worst offender - never played the ball correctly for 15 years.'"
Why cant we do this - anything to gain an advantage.
Someone has posted on another thread that winning a penalty gives such an advantage that teams seem to focus on that more than anything else.
Thats a shame, but the speed of the game is such that lower teams are going to find it really difficult if 2 or 3 penalties are given against them - as we saw last night that's 12 points or more to the opposition.
last season Wigan were brilliant at holding the tackle until the very last second, this year we lost to a fast play the ball. Well done Wigan i say, and if we were winning games in the same way, i wouldn't complain.
As it is, we were good going forward, we are not a dirty or niggly side, but our defence is not strong. We will beat sides on a similar level to us, and score some great trys in the process - But if we can play "smart" as well, then eighth place is a possibility.
