88-89 season ?
started off with a 3,500 crowd against Hull Kr , 5,800 against Warrington , 6,600 against Widnes , 5,900 against Oldham when we were lying 2nd in the Stones Bitter Championship,
Top home crowd against Wigan 8,500 , when we were 5th , Crowd back to 3,500 by the tail end of the season against Halifax when we were back to 10th .
boost in crowds early season co-incided with our run to the Lanc cup final at Knowsley Rd with 19,000 + in attendance
the star player was Paul Shaw!
we had good gates this season Saints 5,900, Wigan 6,200 & Warrington 7,500 , and we have played some good entertaining rugby in spells , trouble is when it's mattered , when the gates have been there our team didn't turn up
