| Melbourne star Gareth Widdop suffered a dislocated hip when being tackled in the match against the Gold Coast Titans.
He was in excruciating pain, and had to be driven off by medicab and taken by ambulance to Robina Hospital, on the Queensland Gold Coast.
He was playing very well in the game until this horrible injury happened.

| At the post match press conference coach Craig Bellamy said of Widdop: "He's a class player and we'll definitely miss him."
Bellamy also said that how long Widdop is out of the game depends on whether there are broken bones or whether it was a clean dislocation.

| Wouldn't have been selected for England anyway because he'd get in my way.
Regards,
Sir Kevin Sinfield.

| Just read Bellamy has confirmed his Melbourne career is over so his chances of appearing in the World Cup seem to be done for as well.
Its a real blow that one. I doubt he'd have made McNamara's starting 13 for that first game but I believe he'd have ended the tournament in one of the half back slots.
With both Widdop and Brough ruled out (for different reasons) we're down to options that aren't good enough now aside from Sinfield.

True.
Mcnamara was always going with the Sinfield/Chase combo imo.
Still, sounds like a bad one.hope he makes a full recovery.

It'll be whoever Sinfield wants.
And it wasn't ever going to be Widdop or Brough.

| Feel sorry for Widdop. Seriously underrated by some fans over here because he plays in a side with bigger players.
He is a real star of the RL world and hope he gets himself fit for next season. You would have to say his WC hopes are over due to having little to no rugby of any note before hand.
Gareth had easily kept the best stand off from the Super League of last year out of the Melbourne team (based on the SL dream team).
So by my Reckoning Widdop>Finch>Sinfield

| Good news for Mcnamara. He doesnt need to justify his decision to leave him out of the side now.

| It's a real shame.
If you saw the post match press conference you would see that Bellamy really admires Gareth Widdop. He said that Widdop was taking more charge of the game as he grew more confident. Bellamy described him as a "class" player. Bellamy also said that the players saw how much pain "Gaz" was in and really felt for him.

Would that be the same McNamara that gave Widdop his international debut and when fit and available has been part of the England team?

You mean bringing him on for the last 4 minutes of a game?

If that's what you want to believe what happened then go ahead.
It's not the truth though.

| Doesn't matter who England choose in the halves, they will whimper into the semi finals and then get knocked out by the Kiwis.
