The top 2 sides in SL, the game on the BBC, plenty of tries and a good atmosphere will hopefully have got a few non RL followers interested in our game.

The only drawback is that they might lose interest again after watching the error strewn comedy act that will take place on the Beeb between the 7th and 8th placed sides when Leeds and Hull play later followed by lame excuse after indecipherable comment by losing coach McDermott or Agar

Yesterday was an excellent advert for the game.

There is no reason why the Hull v Leeds match will not be a good advert too.

Sadly, I fear that the gains may be lost on Tuesday 26th if either Castleford or
Wakefield are thrown out of Super League, to join the appallingly media forgotten Championship, which surely needs promoting separately by another TV company other than Sky.

With both clubs attracting in excess of 6,000 fans and a rich history and strong junior clubs and having many schools playing the game I fear that will be thrown away.

It has not helped the other district team, Featherstone who continue to play in front of crowds of 1,000 - 2,000.

Can't help feeling that the RL authorities still like the idea of mergers within the Wakefield Metropolitan District.

One of Leeds techniques seems to be to try and offload the ball at every opportunity whether it's on or not (and as a result it frequently goes wrong) so I suppose it will be entertaining for a casual observer. But from a technical point of view for those of us who KNOW the game a bit better the gulf in class between Leeds v Hull and Warrington v Wigan will be vast.

Because the casual observer who is bored at home flicking round the channels for a bit of sport to watch wants to be entertained and see lots of tries if they stumble across a Rugby match.

Depends on what you want from a live televised RL match doesn't it.
