| I think the visa he currently has is OK until the end of the season. The regulations have changed since he got his last visa and so changing it is difficult. Whether he has these same problems at the end of the season remains to be seen.

A visa has to be reapplied for if he changes employer, for the next three years at Cas he will have a valid visa. If (when) he leaves at the end of the year, he will have to apply for a new one.

| Re: Rangi Chase.
From what I understand he has been refused a visa. This is because, since his last visa was approved, he has earned himself a conviction for GBH. This will still be the case in 6 months and beyond, and is likely to stop him getting another British visa.
It's unfortunate for Hull that his inability to get a visa means he is unable to change employers. However, it might be more unfortunate for Cas who may have a big problem should Chase need to renew his visa before the end of his current contract (the depends on the conditions of his existing visa).
His only options may be Catalans or NZ Warriors as the Australians are more strict than the UK with regards to visas.

Isn't he an Australian national?
(I know he played for NZ Maori but always thought he was born and brought up in Aus)
EDIT: Just googled him, lived in NZ until he went to High School.

By not being able to get a visa he would be in breach of contract and Cas wouldn't to pay him, unless there's a clause in his contract that says they must do no matter what. That kind of clause is very unlikely.

I don't like what he said along the lines of, 'we will continue to invest in players until we win something. I know how much I can afford.'
It's like he has left a small fry football club and because he now feels like a big shot in a smaller budget game he feels that he can use his financial position to bully other clubs, like a small scale Abramovich.
That kind of attitude isn't good for sport.

| Guess youth development doesn't matter any more. I mean why invest in your own players when you can steal them from other clubs who actually follow the ideals of licensing, hey?

Well said sir. I must admit, if I were a cas fan I'd be more than peeved at Hull Fc. They rape and pillage your club and all you hear in return is..... Cas are our second supported club ya'know! I wonder why???. And your right about their youth ranks, they got no-one coming through after crooks. And who have they brought through since Houghton? A guy from featherstone called briscoe. The rest they have arnt super league standard. Pi55 poor for a club their size!

| Have to laugh at the last two posts. Considering the better players at there respective clubs came through there own Academy systems.
Hull have being neglected for years by Kath Hetherington and co, resulting in poor training facilities and a lack of top coaching staff. Add to the fact Richard Agar was the head coach and you already have a recipe for disaster. This neglecting has meant that almost 95% of our youngsters who have come through the ranks never make SL level and end up playing championship before ending up at West Hull.
This is something Pearson noticed after a few days as owner of the club and with immediate effect changed the whole backroom staff and changed training facilities to a state of the art set up. We have already this season given full time deals to several of younger players who could be saved and have heavily invested in under 15's and 16's. With some of them being paid for by Pearson to go to Australian schools to learn there trade (the same schools the likes of Chase and Marshall came from).
The problem we have is we won't see the success of all this investment for about 4 to 5 seasons so obviously we have to sign plug gap players during that time. Pearson has spent a lot of money and he is entitled to want to be successful because that is what puts bums on seats. Pearson won't enjoy the spending, in fact he will hate it being the financial man that he is. However he is willing to invest to see a return and by signing top quality players he will get that.
Maybe instead of pointing the fingers at our club for pinching your players why don't you point the finger at your own for failing to keep them. Chase didn't want out overnight, they were plenty of promises Castleford have broken to him.

Really? Perhaps you could enlighten us as to the "promises" Castleford made to Chase that they have broken? Unless of course they promised him that he could be the one player to break club rules by going out and getting paraletic before a match?
As much as I love watching Chase as a player, less than a year ago he said that he felt like Castleford was his home, and he wanted to repay the club and fans for the support they had given him. Now he wants out. A bit like declaring his passion for NZ a matter of months before deciding to play for England, he is to loyalty what Ann Widdicome is to modelling.

Chase who many would say is your best player didn't come from your academy and somehow just walked into the number six shirt. Surely you must have signed him from another club ahead of one of your own youngsters ?

They gave him a four year deal and said they wanted to build a successful team around him, then signed nobody. They appointed a coach who wants to completely change the way he plays for the worse. They also guaranteed movement on the stadium front to give him a piece of mind to sign a four year deal and not surprisingly that has stalled and with news of Wakefields go ahead could mean Cas could wait even longer. Rangi is rumored to now be a father so maybe his loyalty has slightly changed in life and thinks a move away from Castleford would be better for his career and family.
I mean your not exactly the most appealing of clubs to sign for and neither are we, so that must say a lot that he would rather move to us.

Chase was signed as a relative unknown from St George-Illawara.
I think you are barking up the wrong tree if you are trying to have a dig at Castleford's youth development, particularly as you have raided us for Westerman and Arundle. And let's not forget where your current captain was developed. And indeed the fact you managed to sign your best payer of the last few years (Manu) after we brought him over from Australia as a bit of a wildcard. In fact, there must be almost as many Castleford trained players in your squad as Hull ones?
Add to this other Castleford trained players in SL and the number still playing at the club (far more than Hull) and your comment just makes you look daft.

He actually said that we will continue to [iinvest[/i until we win something. You've added the last bit yourself to twist the meaning. He's ploughing money into facilities, coaching, and youth development alongside spending on players - basically reversing years of [iunder[/i-investment by the previous owners.
Only in RL could someone willing to plough money into a club be demonised.

The most ironic post of the year!!! A Hull Fc fan slagging off Castlefords player development! Gotta laugh!! They had the pick of all the young hull lads for 10 years, before rovers got into super league. But it's Kaths and Agars fault! Smell what your shovelling.

No it really doesn't, I mean if you bothered to read my first post you will see I explain the current state of Hulls youth system. The point I am getting at (which again you appear to miss) is that you have called Hull for signing other teams players yet your club has done the same. As for Westerman he went to Cas from Hull.
So the only person barking up the wrong tree here is you as I have never claimed our youth set up is better. I just merely pointed out that yours is not perfect, I mean you wouldn't be were you are or were you have being the last ten years if it was so brilliant. Granted you have lost a few or your better academy players but that brings me back to a point earlier, they must be something your club is doing to put these players off staying.

I'm sorry - I didn't realise that AP had the ability to force other clubs to sell contracted players. How very dare he offer them a large sum of cash and then force them to accept it? It must be hell for the poor dears.
Maybe you should be asking why your club is willing to flog off the family silver rather than pointing a finger and a trembly lip at the big bad man from the East. Could it possibly be because they've been offered a fair price?

You Rovers fans shouldn't be allowed on PC's if you can't read. As I say I wasn't making out they were bad just pointing out that Castleford even sign other teams players ahead of there own younger players. Where have I criticised Hull for signing players from other teams? Every team has to, nobody can produce all of their own players. Not once have I written than what Hull are doing is wrong. However, it is wrong to have a dig at Cas' youth development which has produced its fair share of SL players, including some of your best players.

That and I personally feel you just want an argument rather then a debate. When I pass the park one day , I may continue this conversation.
