| Lazy ar5ed RL fans will ensure it is seen as a failure by not being bothered to turn out and then bemoan and blame the RFL for not making it a success!
On the other hand we may be pleasantly surprised and get 70K and England might win it!

It is nothing to do with being lazy, it is to do with the amount of disposable income people have. It's not exactly a cheap day out is it?

| Of course it is. £20 return on the train + what ever ticket price. If your on a really tight budget then a couple of pints and grub in weatherspoon before hand rather than the rip off mucky at the stadium.

| International Rugby league returning to the national stadium for the first time in 14 years is singularly the biggest thing to happen to Rugby League in the UK this millennium
One of two things could happen
It could be a huge success with a healthy crowd watching a superb double header of games and reigniting the enthusiasm for International League ready for our World Cup. Or it could be a flop with a quarter full stadium opening the game up to ridicule
With no Autumn Union internationals this year due to the World Cup in New Zealand, the Wembley games will be the biggest rugby spectacle on show in the capital
These games could have been staged in Wigan, Leeds, Huddersfield etc but the game has shown the ambition to take the game to Wembley – now it’s time for the fans to do their bit and get to Wembley and make the thing a success. No excuses now, it really is time to show up or shut up forever about our sport not being high enough in the national consciousness. If we don’t help ourselves then why should anybody else help us
If you love your team that’s fine but if you love the sport of Rugby League then get to Wembley – it really is as simple as that

| Is it not too late for this now? How are they going to shift that many tickets for a game no one has any appetite for because we're incapable of winning it.

I'd be staggered if there isn't 80K RL fans in the UK who couldn't afford 50quid for a trip to a Int RL match.

A packed out Wembley cheering England on, also a rousing national anthem just might find another gear in this England team. Who knows we may actually win. I can't imagine playing for your country in places like Leigh, Huddersfield Leeds and Wigan will fill you with adrenaline? Playing at Wembley will I don't doubt.

A packed Wembley? What are the chances of that? Realistically, given the ridiculously delay in announcing the 4N fixtures, what is the crowd likely to be? I can't see more than 30,000 turning up.
33,758 showed for the 2000 World Cup at Twickenham. This was after a good 18 months of 'RFL' hard sell and marketing. Now they've got a few months and have also got the Challenge Cup and Grand Final marketing in the same time frame.
Unless they employ some proper outside marketing agencies this has the potential to be an absolute disaster.

| Would be good if the RFL could co-ordinate with Crusaders, South Wales Scorpions and the Welsh amateur clubs to try and organise transport to the Wales games. Think it would hugely improve the atmosphere and possibly even ticket sales if there was a chance of a decent sized Welsh contingent seated together.

| Only two pages to get negative... not bad.
It's at Wembley and people like to go there... so we have a chance.
Saracens got 40,000 odd for a Aviva Premiership match and the Carling Cup final was a sell out.
An England international of whatever sports should attract enough people to make it look full.

the welsh are gonna get a few world cup games in a couple of years...its time the WRL started stepping up and show us they are capable

| If the match is in London, the RFL should be pushing it as an event in that area. Rugby, England vs Australia. That is an event worth watching. It shouldn't have to rely on 90,000 RL fans going on mass down south. I will be attending but I think the RFL should view this as a national opportunity.

Maybe hand vouchers out for the game at the CC final and grand final?
All amatuer clubs get discounted tickets?
I didn't say it would be easy, but the RFL have given themselves a challenge now so let's see if they're upto it. What I do hope is that the people who moan about the attendance of said game don't do it from their armchair!

Fair point, although I dare say the RFL would want to control anything like that. Likewise, it would be good for the RFL to try similar initiatives for coach travel from the 'heartlands' etc.

| As there are perhaps 120,000 people who are prepared to pay to watch rugby league in the SL rounds, then that is a good base from which to draw a healthy crowd for such an imaginative double header at such a prestigious venue.
Whinging about competition from the CC and SL GF is just that - whinging for the pure sake of it - because the 4N cannot be at any other time, for reasons anyone with more than 2 brain cells that can communicate with each other will know, and those 2 well-established events will be unaffected.
The question is, how many will be enthused to go to Wembley as well? I think an awful lot, especially if the ticket deals are as attractive as the ones for the major finals. For the first time I can remember, the RL marketing seems to be making a good fist of it this year and have now shown the balls and chutzpah to put on a big show at Wembley. Good on them, and to me, it can't fail to be a success. Expecting Wembley to be full is unrealistic but a respectable crowd should certainly be achievable if you think what's on offer. I seem to recall similar doomsayers whinging that nobody would watch the Exiles game.

Thats the chance we have, its not often Welsh folk get to grace Wembley, so how do we attract them (rugby fans)?

This isn't going to go down well in some quarters, but I'd be tempted to evoke memories of Wales win at Wembley against England in the Five Nations (2000-ish?). I actually reckon it would have been easier to sell these games as the opening round of fixtures and Australia-New Zealand followed by England-Wales.
Would have been much easier to market to the Welsh as an opportunity to give England a bloody nose at their national stadium IMO.

| Does anyone know what the capacity of just the first tier is? Should just sell them first so it looks packed on TV incase ticket sales aren't that great. Even if 60,000 go there will be 30,000 empty seats which won't look great but it will be great to get to have a double header in the capital and showcase our sport.

| 60K at Wembley would look just fine. Would probably look something like the crowds at recent England soccer internationals. And you won't get many of the "Club" seats filled for RL so you can forget them.

Look, why don't you give it a rest? We know you're like the local End Of The World Sandwich Board man, you don't have to flog it to death. Surely even you can agree the RL marketing in 2011 is a different kettle of fish to 2000? The multi-final ticket initiative for one? The huge success of the inaugural Exiles game, that nobody was predicted to attend, for another?
OK - YOU can't see "more than 30K" turning up. Great! Your random figure is noted but it is just your pessimistic guess. Some people are making more optimistic guesses but they are just that, guesses.
I don't find the delay "ridiculous", no doubt they had to tie Aus in particular down to agree the dates, and don't think the timescale is as big a deal as you're trying to make out. Everyone knew there would be a 4N and everyone knew the exact window it would be in so it seems to me you are just making a song and dance over nothing.
What else will be done marketing-wise for the CCF and SLGF I don't know but I do know these have already been superbly marketed, it's been all over the place. You're trying to imply they haven't started yet and it will all be at the same time, which is just rubbish.
And you seem to ignore that there simply IS no other window to play the 4N. Unless you want it as a pre-season warm-up in January?
Last, you say "unless they employ..." etc - isn't it blindingly obvious that they already ARE employing a decent marketing agency?

Surely it should be if you love the game of SL then get to Wembley, unless something changes the unity and passion shown at some recentish Wembley RL internationals will be very sadly missing and the crowd will reflect that. That well known website has some great clips on it of Wembley early 90's, awesome atmosphere when the game was united.

| How I'd sell it out:
Pro clubs get tickets for 75% of cover price, they keep the other 25% as profit. This would encourage them to market and sell directly to their own membership and fans.
Amateur clubs get 13 tickets for the price of 10. This allows them to keep the money from the sale of 3 of the tickets, again encouraging them to sell as many as possible.
Every Jnr RL player in the country can apply for a discounted family ticket of 2 adults and up to 3 kids for 50pound and get a free England supporters pack with the family ticket (some cheap sponsored stuff they can wave at the game)
Schools/jnr clubs can get a 40% discount for booking a block of 20 or more tickets
All tickets bought from the London area enter a draw for an all expenses trip for two to the 2012 NRL Grand final
Advertise and hype the blooming thing!
