| Best one was a Beverley Rugby League match. Can't remember who they were playing but from the kick off the Beverley centre smashed the receiver who was so out of it he played the ball the wrong way (facing his own line) and got done for a knock on.

Always thought that tackle was overrated as a 'hit'. Bell was slammed to the floor but it was more the manner of the collision and smash to the floor that did the damage. Great and damaging collision, but not a classic 'hit'. Plus I think Saints fans love it all the more because it was Bell. It's on YouTube.
As much as it pains me, Anderson on Tickle was a belter.
Tommy on Mary. Mary's pained expression said it all.
Karl Harrison on Ian Roberts on the 1994 Ashes tour is one of my favourites. Roberts out cold and had to leave the field and Harrison was roaring with laughter even before the tackle was complete.
Guttenbeil on Catic, as SFW mentioned.
Had a few at my own team last year. We've got a particularly sizeable prop around 6'1" and 20 stone, heavily muscled but not particularly ripped. He's put a few big ones in - towards the end of last year one lad threw himself at him, his head hit our prop's shoulder and he was out cold for 5 minutes. Another time he took a drive and a brave but much smaller lad went for him and ended up cold for a few seconds, and then lay there gibbering and wailing as though possessed for about 5 minutes before being carried off. That was actually quite disturbing.

| There was one by a young Adrian Morley on Mark Carroll when he was over here playing for London that saw Carroll leave the field with his ribs in a bag to take home.
For sheer size difference, Rob Burrow picking up and dumping Jamie Thackray a couple of years ago was a cracker too.

| Makali Aizue on Scott Wheeldon was a nice hit and then Wheeldon returned the favour not long after. A good hit not a classic I admit.

| Bob Jackson on Karl Harrison at the Shay 93-94 season, live sky game, Hemmings said "Jackson came at him like a exocet missile!"
Poor Rhino had to be helped from the field.
Also, Adrian Morley must hold the record for the amount of monster big hits, theres about 5 on youtube alone.

| See I dont rate Vinny Andersons tackle on Tickle as a big hit. Vinny just kinda braced himself and tickle was so unfit he just bounced off him :S
For illegal big hits, Mark Geyer has too many too mention along with Sampson on Skerett
Legal wise I cant remember who it was but at the Paris v Saints game at knowsley road Vila absolutely anihilated some poor french guy. The stadium rocked with the force of the hit, the ball flew up about 10 meters vertically in the air and the whole stadium let out a collective "oooohhhhh" and then just silence because everyone though the french guy was seriously injured!

| It is a noise that cannot be described, the crowd is impressed, whilst also feeling the pain, wincing, gasping, applauding, going 'oooh' and then the silence while you see what state the poor bloke who feels like a trucks hit him is in.

Isn't that the one where the dirty one eyed f*cker smashed Sironen with his elbow?
And Sironen still got up.

Yes that's the one.
And I think you'll find Sironen went down like a sack of spuds, ate grass for a bit, took a very very very very very very long time getting up - with assistance - and then veeeeerrryy slowly left the pitch, arm over physio's shoulder, looking 10 years older.
If that's what you term 'Sironen still getting up', your ocker hard men mustn't be up to much.
Search for "Barrie McDermott v Paul Sironen" on YouTube if you dispute any of the above.
