| Quote ="bentleberry"It doesn't surprise me that their sales are doing well, as a casual spectator the prospect t of watching your team win championship teams on a regular basis has to be more exciting that the prospect of watching them lose to super league clubs. It gives you something to get excited about in the run up to the game, and the fact that knowing games won't be moved around at the whim of Sky also has to help. Good on them for selling so well, I hope it continues if they have a second year in the championship'"
It's absolutely outstanding that HKR have sold so many Season Tickets - well done
However, picking up the last point, I would say that they really, REALLY need to be going flat out to get back to Super League THIS season. As a Bulls fans, I can tell you that whilst there is a great novelty in going to places like Dewsbury and Batley for a season - after all, who doesn't like going to new places? - it does get old when it comes to second season.
IF (and at the moment it is an 'if') we make it to the start line for 2017, the prospect of going to those tiny and badly equipped grounds for a third time isn't very enticing. Granted, in our case, we'll probably be glad just to actually have a team to watch, but still....

I agree after going round those grounds for over 10 years I certainly don't want to be doing again for more than a season and if we don't return straight away I doubt we'll be selling over 5000 next year but even so it's an excellent achievement so far

Slightly unfair on the other clubs in the comp and you aint going to make any new friends with those comments.
I dont want to kick you while you are down but, nobody has the right to play in SL and even gaining promotion doesn't give anyone security.
IF KR come straight back up then great but, with Toulouse and then Toronto setting their stall's out for SL, escaping the Championship is going to become increasingly more difficult.

I watched their game against Northampton, for my sins. Jeez, they were dire! 65% possession and 17-0 down! They were camped on the Northampton line for lengthy periods, but did their wingers ever see the ball? Nope. Until Solomona got a good score as consolation late on. A final pass to Charnley went into the crowd when he had the line at his mercy, and a cross-kick to Solomona which should have resulted in a try was undercooked and DS had to run into the defence to fetch the ball if they continue to play like that, the fans will stay away in their droves.

So I assume second tier teams in OZ have 6,000+ season ticket holders who attend all their games ?

Can you please tell me a time when any club regularly got 10k+ ST sales? While I admire your drive in wanting to see Premier League 'esque crowds, I think you need a big reality check. Our sport will never get to those heights unless Soccer has some sort of implosion.
Back on topic. I think 5k season passes is a fantastic effort and I hope the team give the fans the season they deserve for showing such loyalty.

It is you can't knock the loyalty - however I'd be interested to know how incentivized they are. As we know from the Glover era at Wakefield you can shift thousands of tickets at a discounted cost.
I'm not knocking HKR if it works for them thats fine but we were never more skint than when we had 4000 S/T holders and average gates of 7,000+.

Why are clubs going to have 15,000 season ticket holders as you suggest when it's never happened in a hundred years and most football clubs don't get that but it might happen if we go down your route and ditch the Aussie recruits and sign amateur players from local leagues I'm sure the fans will flock in

Season tickets are priced at £225 for an adult with an optional 25% discount if you want it which only 5% of fans have taken so no cheap tickets

Probably in the past, Keighley's highest ever attendance was 14500 in 1951 or there abouts so yes there are problems with changes in social structure. Whilst others have moved on, in some ways RL in this country hasn't. Yes I want RL to be the premier sport in this country and yes it be difficult but not impossible. What it would take in complete strategy change and a lot of hard work. That unfortunately is where the problem lies. It's easier to buy than build.

Correct. I live 5 miles from Salford's ground in Manchester and unless you were a fan of RL you wouldn't know they existed round my way.

Got to give Rovers credit for a great marketing idea with the 'be loyal and pay full price and back us' thing, but from experience you can only get away with that stunt the once, at Hull the 'stay faithful, next year is the one' marketing wore very thin until last years upturn in form.
