| Quote ="The Wizard"Interesting to see that nearlly every poster as moved Andy Farrell to second row and kept Sculthorpe at loose. Paul was the better player imo and should rightly get the 13 shirt.
Farrell's best spell if you aint picking him at 13 was when he moved to prop for Wigan, so i'd give him the 10 shirt.'"
...or it could just be that Farrell was better in more positions and could be moved more effectively to allow Sculthorpe to play in one of the two positions he was good in.

Seriously Damo, you need to start getting some perspective befor you post! You going to Headingly looking forward to watching one of your own players is not the qualifying criteria for claiming someone is "the best in the world"! Just name some of the centres who have played for Australia (for example) in the time Senior has plied his trade and you should come up with at least a dozen who were better than senior (good player though he is) In fact I'll start you off Inglis, Renouf, Gasnier, Cooper etc... or how about some that have graced SL like Gidley, Lyon, Connolly, Mogg etc. At no time was Senior ever the best in the world.

There is no need to eulogise of players who were good but not great (Connolly, Mogg, Gidley, Cooper, Lyon) or pretend that the potential of a player like Inglis has been fulfilled
whether Senior was ever the best in the world is up to personal opinion, personally i dont, but he certainly deserves to be up there, and has contributed more to Leeds than any of the others you have listed have to their clubs

I agree that Senior has been top quality (check my initial post), but to claim he has ever been the best in the world is stretching it to say the least. He has made next to no impact at world level (check the number of offers he has had from the NRL for example) and to say 'Man of Steel' and head and shoulders above any player when he won it Lyon had less impact in that season than Senior in any of his is a ludicrous statement. What's more Lyon wasn't even 'the best in the world' when he achieved all that...merely the best in Super League.
As for Inglis, he made a monkey of Senior only last year and has improved since then! Are you seriously suggesting that because he hasn't yet, in all probability, fulfilled his potential that he isn't already better than Senior has ever been?
Mogg was outstanding at centre in the NRL gaining Queensland SOO representation. If you are judging him on SL form, you are again deluded as he's been playing SO over here and is still more dangerous/influential that Senior.
Connolly was seen as good enough to be signed by the aforementioned NRL clubs as well as being the best British centre over many seasons. Something Senior has failed to do on both counts. Even as recently as last year's World Cup he came out second best to Martin Gleeson who has been more effective throughout most of their careers together. That said, I will accept that this is a subjective opinion.
As for the likes of Gasnier etc....don't even go there!
Now, all this sounds a little 'anti-Senior'. Far from it. He's been an excellent servant for both Sheffield and Leeds and one of the best British centres for much of his carreer. Just nowhere near "the best in the world". And that's neither subjective nor opinion unless you happen to be from Leeds or deluded about the British game.

And, if memory serves, along with the 'not to be Eulogised' Connolly, kept him out of the GB team for most of the early part of his career...
I'd be interested to know exactly which seasons Senior was 'The Best In The World' if only to see how many NRL centres The League Freak could name from the same season who were better!

Lyon did it for two seasons (and a massively over rated two at that), Senior has done it for 14 years
and Senior did make an impact at world level, beating the aussies and kiwis numerous times

Senior is 33, and he stood up fine when they played Melbourne,
and no, i dont think Inglis has fulfilled his potential and i dont think he is already better than Senior was 5-7 years ago,
i have no doubt he will fulfill his potential and i have no doubt when he does so he will be better than Senior ever was, i also believe he will likely go on to be the best centre of the past 30 years, however he isnt there yet,
and also, i can guarantee Inglis wasnt the best centre in the world 6 years ago,

Mogg didnt make his origin debut until he was 29 and only then due to an injury to to Inglis, christ he was only managed to be an NRL regular for a few years and spent a good chunk in the aussie lower tiers,

that is certainly a very subjective opinion, but Martin Gleeson better than Senior over the past two years? really? is that really your honest opinion? and that Senior hasnt been the best british centre for a few years? honestly?

i dont think he was, if you had the sense to read, you would have seen that
oh, and the centres of 2002 arent particularly intimidating to be honest, your origin centres were Lyon, Gidley, Timmins, Walker, Smith, Hodges (who had a disaster and if memory serves played mostly on the wing) and that amazing superstar Chris Mckenna,
your grand final Centres were Shannon Hegarty, a 20 year old Justin Hodges, John Carlaw and Clinton Toopi, with the Dally M centre of the year being Nigel Vagana

| A few things.
If Chris McKenna was a pom he'd have been the best pommy players in 30 years. Judging him on the end of his career pension is just dumb.
Also, thinking Senior was anywhere close to the best at any point.....this would not be a disgussion if not for a few idiots.
Last of all, Connoly was so much better than Senior.....Connolly was actually one of the best players in the game at his best.
