| Might get shot down but I have seen some green shoots of renewal at Quins. Some aus/kiwi voices returning/ More kids and average age reducing in our core support. The sport deserves a london fan base as fanatical as the M62 corridor.

very good point, they are the next generation and when they are old enough to travel on their own and have disposible income then quins will be better for it.
a question for quins supporters do juniors in the local amatuer clubs get cheap/free tickets?

Not bad that yeah? Early doors and they haven't won a match so i think 3,009 is respectable.

Better than expected for the visit of Quins.
Only problem is, it doesn't matter if you have 17 Welshman playing in a state of the art stadium, if they don't start winning then they will very quickly drop off.
I think its a confidence thing at the moment. They have a decent squad and a great coach but their early enthusiasm has gone and the close defeats have affected their confidence.
At least they've got Wigan to look forward to next week.

better than Quins, and thats with much shorter history and much much smaller population to draw from, and worse SL form this season
yet more evidence that London/Quins just haven't promoted themselves properly all these years

Yes, that's it - reduce the cost of season tickets (who knows what long term damage that will do) and continue to rely on away support.
Well done, you!

So reducing the ST prices once in the last 20 years is the answer
Nowt to do with the product on the pitch then that is bringing in healthy numbers of home supporters in

Oh come on, they can't give Huddersfield any credit, your crowds are always boosted by away support and you win because of dodgy refs.

| Surley the media in the south of England is not much help to the Quins cause.
For a major competition like super league their attendance is so poor, there isnt much point in changing what they have, they need to have sustainability and a massive marketing campaign! London is vital!

A very good point, Im sure the club is bound to have money for that kind of thing. I suppose they need higher attendances to bring in the money for a marketing campaign..
Do Quins get much coverage in the london media?

So you've used an entire region for the population targeted by Harlequins, and a town for the population targeted by Celtic Crusaders?
Yeah, fair comparison.
Population of Twickenham (Quins) vs Population of Bridgend:
39,750 vs 39,429
Or...
Population of London Borough of Richmond (Quins) vs Population of the County Borough of Bridgend (Celtic):
180,000 vs 133,900.
Or...
Population of West London (Quins) vs Population of South Wales (Celtic):
1.6m vs 2.1m
The differences between South Wales and London is that London has a much denser population vs area. The original club may have been formed in 1980, but the fact is they have moved continuously throughout this time and such have pretty much had to start again each time. Quins were pretty much started at the same time as Celtic.

Nope, local Twickers paper gives resonable coverage, Metro does its bit but the Standard isn't and never has been on board.

spot on max. The body language of the players was painful.
Great set of fans the quins guys, a credit to rugby league. Two things: i apologise for my foul language (i was the gobby plymouth boy amongst you guys swearing at the ref and booing your kickers (worked once) and i'll see you all at the stoop for the second leg of the biggest derby in superleague!

| Attendance figures at Professional London Rugby League matches would be my chosen topic if I was ever to go on Mastermind. The reasons why London clubs have never managed to average more than 5,000 are many and well documented already, but in short.
The Media: They don't give a flying one...simple as that really.
The Name Changes: FulhamCrusaderBronquins.......
The Change of Addresses: The club probably spend more on re-directing mail than they do on Marketing.
Competition from other sports: Soccer and Union are the games that control most attention down here and that will always be the way.
Perception: Flat cap wearing whippet racing pigeon fanciers play League (and the BBC continue to enhance this perception with the commentary team on CC games)
...
There are many more reasons, but I can't be bothered listing them. What I will say, is that there seems to be little or no marketing activity coming out of the club this year and that is very worrying. Yes, we are now seeing the fruits of many years labour with more cockneys in the squad and we are getting more competitive. We also have a great Game Day experience and the bands in the bars after the game are brilliant, but what we are not doing is letting anyone know about it.
The poster who earlier said that no resident of TW would be able to name 3 players was nearly right......they wouldn't even be able to name 1 and that's if they even knew we existed.
I don't know what the solution is, but I do fear for Harlequins Rugby League in 2015 if we still average less than 5,000 a game.

Did the club of the league dictate that though?
It was a huge battle getting through the traffic on the A1, M1 and M25 (worth though for the result!).
The match day programme indicated that lots was going on within the community so I can't understand why no-one would be going.
To be fair the atmosphere was better than 2,500 fans would suggest.

One of the few times during the season the Union club ask us to arrange a fixture around them (happens more at the business end of each codes season), they had a home Heineken cup fixture on the Sunday and wanted to maximise pitch recovery time.

can't really be avoided then unless they could have changed the Celtic fixture round to have been away first.
