If Gelling is ‘removed’ from the club will he still count on the cap this year?

If it's a loan deal, wouldn't Toronto continue to pay his wages therefore count on their cap and not ours and the same the other way round?

I reckon Patton and Johnson would be two of the loanees if true.

I wouldn't have thought so, it being a live cap, keep in mind when we've brought people in, we've had to ship people out on loan to remove their salary cap value so the new player can replace it.

In his case, we'd either have to clear a marquee spot, or the full whack of whatever his contract is for the period we sign him.

It says that as the loanee club we would take his aggregate value from Toronto. And a quick search on google says that he is the highest paid RL centre on a salary of £430k. I can't see how we would give 4 players to Toronto that would add up to that figure unless they took some of our bigger names, in which case the deal would not make sense. We could take a player off his Marquee spot and give it to Leutele I suppose but I don't know who our lowest paid Marquee player is, and what he earns ?

And don't forget that Gelling is suspended, he's not been fired / de-registered.

Have you all spent the evening under the stairs hiding from storm Dennis and finding courage in a bottle of drain unblocker?

Are we really advocating offloading 4 players whether on-loan or not to bring in a Toronto centre, when our current backs get the type of service usually reserved for vegans at a carvery?

Whatever our problems, changing the centre won't solve them.

Why send 4 promising youngsters out when these are the type of players price should be using to freshen things up . I’m sure they would give more than some at wakey Sunday

Well, if Brand didn't play against Wakey that means to me that the coaching staff don't think he is ready for a debut atm, so we have a gap in the squad. If the rumour is true, the club presumably know rather more about the AG situation than we do and view it as a season long gap (with Mamo as cover and Brand when he shows he is ready.) Regardless of how the team play during the year we would still need a replacement. Lets hope that this is an isolated bump in the road rather than a tank track we seem to have stumbled onto.

TBF, we don't know who would be included in the deal, but if it was some or all of the above lets not forget they would be getting SL experience.

Club trying to claw some ground on Pies and Leeds...(and Oldham) with youth structures and a strong under 19s...whilst soaking up some cap gravy with doing so...
Obviously trying to target 2022 with them but you get caught out in depth when a situation like Gell springs up.

Toronto desperately need bodies in their squad and are better served by having four squad players than one marquee at present.

It obviously depends on the four who will be going in the other direction. Is it likely that Doro, Robson, Thewliss and ANO will get any game time with us? Maybe they are better off with first team action at this stage for their development?

This is a crisis if your'e in need of second P&L on a Monday, and Only Connect hasn't started!

Be an ideal replacement for Gelling but I doubt it will happen, feels like just elaborate speculation to me.
