If they were to use Elland Rd they'd have to pay rent and I'd imagine Elland Rd would take some or all profits from food and beverage or hospitality suites or both. If its at Elland Rd there's more tickets to sell, so the Rhinos would have to pay more for advertising.
Plus, there's the issue of that upper tier, which Elland Rd didn't open for the 2009 4N's final and only partially opened for this year's final. That restircts the capacity, reducing the Rhinos' income.
If its at Headingley there's no rent and they get all profits from... well everything.
I'd have thought the Rhinos want to be a bit careful with their money after they had to put the South Stand renovation on hold due to financial concerns.'"
See the post two above yours.
Elland Road was not available that weekend, irrespective of cost.

| Poor choice for me personally. I have been the past 3 that leeds have played at Elland Road and it's always been good seeing all different supporters from different clubs watching the game. I think now its at headingley it wont have the same feel to it

| If Elland Road is unavailable then it's pretty much unavoidable, but it's a shame that the game won't be at a bigger ground. I was hoping that it would be the Sunday evening at Elland Road so that it can be combined with going to an afternoon Championship game, but hopefully there will be a good turnout regardless.

That occurred to me, although more with frost in mind - unless Leeds have put in new undersoil heating when we weren't looking. If it snows that dreadful woman Elfine Safety would probably have the game called off.

If Manlys ground is a dump then words can not describe the state of Headingley.

| Surely there must be an alternative in Yorkshire to Headingley. This is a premium game and deserves to be played at a decent venue.

I've been a Rhinos season ticket holder for 13 years, would it be fair to me if I missed out on a ticket for this game? I know what you're saying, it is a bit contradictive but at the same time only fair given the capacity situation.

Same reason that Wigan season ticket holders got priority last year. RL fans are creatures of habit and god help them if they can't sit in their own seat.

Yeah, I know what you are saying too. I imagine half of the North Stand will be reserved for RFL purposes. Bit tough on the overall RL community. I doubt I will go because of it being at Headingley, which is a shame as I've been to every WCC for as long as I can remember. I'll try and get a ticket but not particularly confident.

Most Leeds fans don't have much good to say about fans from Hull but you're right. I've noticed in the big games that both FC (especially) and HKR fans always turn out in good numbers despite their clubs not getting through.
I've really enjoyed the WCCs at Elland Road. [iNot [/i being at Headingley makes it much more of an occasion. I fear that at Headingley it will feel more like just another home game.

It is being played at the world famous Headingley stadium, an atmospheric stadium that exudes tradition and history. Why would we want to play at one of the new "identikit" stadiums that lack atmosphere outside of Leeds ? This is the best choice we could have made if it's all about becoming World Champions. Sinfield will know exactly where to place his field kicks and other Leeds players will be helped with their spatial awareness due to playing on a pitch they appear on every other week. The fans are right on top of the players and the ground will be absolutely rockin. Great decision.

Hopefully it will be a sell out, I'm sure it will be as they got 32k last time for the WCC so headingley should be easy to do so.
I will still probably go but I know it won't be as good for a neutral as if it was at a 'neutral' venue

As we won the Grand Final.....(again )....I think its great for the club and the players to contest this match on their home ground. They've earned that right.
I understand the commercial reasons for looking for a bigger venue, but in all honesty, I see this tie as the iceing on the cake for Leeds Rhinos supporters, rather than a showpiece match for RL.

You will easily get a ticket. It isn't going to sell-out in a day is it?

Don't Manly have the right though to a neutral venue atleast as they won their grand final as well?
I would like one club to have the guts to go to Australia/NZ and play the WCC for a change

They are already on sale for Leeds Season Ticket Holders and Memebers, and will be for 2 weeks before anyone else gets a chance. I'll be able to get a ticket of some description sure, but not an ideal one, so I probably won't bother.
