You thought entirely wrong. The RFL didn't pay a penny.

Stop thinking roofs....it doesn't suit you
We didn't receive a penny from the RFL.......David Hughes took a hit on his half of the debt anf HMS Customs/Inland revenue wouldn't accept "drip" payments and told us to fold. We did, we asked to be readmitted, the RFL "advised" the SL chairman of their preference in voting, we got admitted.
So, technically, we got a "Godfather" type bailout.........but no cash. The RFL just made it clear that without London then SKY would be less inclined to fork out as much cash.....so, SKY bailed us out!
As you have principles, I suggest you bin your dish now and avoid all public houses showing Sky sports immediately!

Okay I apologise.
Although I haven't got Sky these days so that's not a problem. Hey what's with the avatar then Gutterfax? Sounds like Sky was on your side in terms of your (alleged ) importance to their deal?

SLY TV moved a Quins Game, in France from Saturday to Sunday, with 6 weeks notice. Many Many Quins fans (oh, OK, both of them ) were left with a weekend in France and the return flight taking off........just as the re-arranged fixture was kicking off.
The only reason we could see for this was that SLY TV wanted to test the waters when it comes to moving games in France.
You can see why they chose us. Our mini-protest got a fair bit of RL press coverage and was even debated at the all party parlimentary RL group meeting.......imagine the stink if they'd tried it out with say Wigan, Wire or HKR?

Ah right, does sound out of order to be fair. What did the fans do then?
Do think it's wrong the control that Sky have over fixtures, must have been an a costly pain in the @ss for those who went.
The King of Kings wouldn't stand for it mate. Actually we did - we had to change to a 6pm Sat kick-off for the derby (which seemed insane but thankfully the night passed without incident AFAIK).

I think Sky pay for it, so they are entitled to move games.
BUT
The problem is, I would suspect that fans from every club look at the Catalan away fixture as soon as the full seasons list is released. RyanAir and EasyJet operate an excellerating pricing system, so the earlier you book and the emptier the plane, the cheaper the flight, so many people book their France Weekend back in Feb. As Cataland have ALWAYS played their games on Saturday evenings, the majority of fans book the return leg of their trip on the Sunday, so they can be back at work on Monday.
The quotes from Ryanair to move flights to the Monday were in the region of £100 each and the additional night in the hotel, food, beer and a day off work means about another £250 to £300 on top of what is already the most expensive trip of the year.
By the way....like my sig?

Not people like me, though I do look out for fixtures like Headingley, The Jungle etc.
Like I said does sound like I hell of a lot of expensive and inconvenience to say the very least. Did you make the game then?
No it's mean. Hey you noticed I've still got yours on my sig.

| Quote ="Roofs"Did you make the game then?'" Strange as it may sound I was probaly the most vocal protester about this fixture change and I didn't even go (work, not principles ).
I wrote to every SL Chairperson, the RFL, SL, SKY and the Rugby League press (letter was published in one). Got responses from most, all supportive except the RFL who spouted the usual cr@p about Sky having the rights to do as they want.
I hope that the stink this caused, no matter how small, served as a warning to SKY that they shouldn't ever change a Catalans fixture in France again. (fat chance)

Deserve a lot of credit for taking the time to do that mate, hope they take notice.
And they need to order Catalans to switch their coverage in France back to Canal+, so that we can pick up, er, radio coverage over here again.

| 2500 giants fans?
we had 1000 in the north stand alone, another few hundred in the east stand and at least 2000 in the west stand!
huddersfield-well known for poor crowds over the years, no success for 50 years,60 miles from the venue,3500-4000 supporters
st helens-countless trophy wins in the last 10 years alone, succesive trips to challenge cup finals/grand finals, 7 miles from the venue, 6000 supporters
and as usual its the giants support or lack of it that is subject to scrutiny

| Quote ="GIANT DAZ"yeah there was indeed because they packed their stand so tightly and , obviously as we dont have any fans , it was safer to give them our stand too, its better to make 25,000 fans happy and safe rather than our following of 375 ( which ,incidentally would still have been more than HKR brought to us pre-super league
)'"
God you ask a serious question and this is what you get eh?!
Well maybe there wasn't, just looked like a few red and white shirts in the side of the stand.
Anyway, okay we were down in the dumps years ago, but we've bounced back to reach our highest league position for something like 24 years, have trebbled or home support in 3 years and take a lot more away then Hudds, e.g. betcha didn't take 3000 to Cas eh?!

You mean no success apart from being Yorkshire's only top-league team for the majority of the 80s?
Success isn't just winning trophies.
