Most if it spent on paying Australian RL players , good eh ?'"
I see - he's on about the loan. For a minute I thought he was on about the application!
The £700k is secured on the stadium, wouldn't worry too much about that.

So a couple of million less the £700K which they might get back , one day , sounds brilliant to me

You forgot about this
"In August 2006 Halifax RLFC was on the verge of going bust. The club announced that it needed to raise £90,000 otherwise it would go into liquidation. Rugby league fans nationwide rallied behind 'Fax', and through visits to the ground, during home fixtures, and other fund-raising events, were able to raise £55,000. Former Chairman Howard Posner then came forward and announced that he would loan the club the remaining £35,000 in order to keep Halifax RLFC alive. This ensured that Halifax RLFC would be playing in National League One during 2007."
I went to the 5,000 fans to save fax only a couple of thousand did as the public of hailfax were too busy drinking in the towns bars.

| If the gap between SL and the championship was made smaller then it could happen but it has been the RFLs intention over the years to let the gap increase so it has made it nearly impossible. SL can sustain it's self at the moment without the expansion clubs. It's the championships that need all the help. When the Championships have gone to the wall that will be the ultimate mistake that these tools will have made and SLs demise will rapidly follow.

Do you understand the concept of deniability?
Funny how the opinions of the supporters club and the actual club are identical isn't it.
And if it isn't why hasn't the Halifax club come out and distanced themselves from these fskwitted morons?

The club may even agree with them but they haven't [iorchestrated[/i the campaign. That's my point and one which you are failing to understand. It's also a shame that you view passionate fans as fskwitted morons.

| You've got absolutely no evidence of what you're saying, and why would the club address the opinions of an independent body? People are mostly reasonable enough to know they are not one and the same!
You are not making any sense whatsoever!

Complete and utter rubbish.
How does a club with an average customer base of between 1-2000 'keep up', as you put it, with clubs that have at least double the number of customers AND a gift in excess of £1million every year?
Similarly, I'd like to know how said clubs are supposed to get to the level of Leeds, Hull & Wigan without the £1million gift and the increased crowds you get in SL?
Fsking idiots indeed...

I suggest you ask Catalans Dragons, Castleford Tiger, Hull KR and Widnes Vikings. They seem to have managed to bring themselves from a lower level into SL and survive (OK Widnes haven't started yet but I'm sure they will be OK this time)

That's not what I asked. That's not what Smokey said should be required for a CC club to get a license.
I agree with you by the way.

| Back to the OP, my own personal opinion as a board member of another Supporters Trust, I think the Halifax campaign is embarassing and brings the role of Trusts into disrepute. I had sympathy for Halifax's situation but cannot support a campaign with such a negative and narrow minded title. It's not even accurate - it suggest the RFL don't support P&R themselves, when they clearly do as it exists in many levels of the game other than SL.

| This is my point, they are blithering idiots whose sole achievement will be to damage the wider game as a whole and the Halifax club in particular with this utterly stupid, ill conceived, badly worded, badly delivered "campaign".
Maybe they'd be better off trying to get people from Halifax to actually go to the games, which will be the surest way of getting Fax into Super League.
No Im not trolling, but I am fed up of tin pot clubs thinking they have a divine right to be in the top flight.

Great examples...
Catalan - yes a success
Cas - been in SL for all but 2 years of its existence so not quite equivalent to other CC clubs. But, they have no rich backer and work on a shoestring. If they hadn't gone up in 2007 they would have gone bust just as Widnes did but would've been unlikey to undergo the same Lazarus like recovery. IIRC they were renegotiating their loan with the bank not long after.
Hull KR - fortunate to have a sugar daddy otherwise....
Widnes, let's see eh?
