Two blocks of the top tier in the East stand have now been opened. L36 and L44, this is according to the Super League website, Id expect that to mean that the bottom tier has sold out, or there is just single seats available. Looking good though.

If everything except the top tier sold out, what would the crowd be?

I read it was just shy of 33,000.

Looking at those 2 blocks that have been opened on the upper tier earlier and you couldn't get 4 seats together in one of them. If they open the rest of it and allow people to pay on the gate i'd expect 35-36,000 on.

Not a bad effort I reckon for perhaps the most mullered of international sides in UK sport.

Just a question here don't bite my head off but why would just managing to open top tier be "great" considering we got 39,000 for GB v Aus in 2004 at the same venue?

It's a tough one. We struggled in last years world cup and I think that just put everyone on a downer and when you add in the current climate with alot of peoples money being tight 35,000 won't be a bad effort at all imo.

We'd had a really good run up to the 2004 final aswell even beating the Aussies in the process so expectations were huge. I think this time the expectation level is still pretty low and most people would just take a competative showing.

It also doesn't help that the RFL have done little to no advertising of these games.

Because we've have an additional 5 years of shambolic performances to damage the crowds since then, and money is tighter than it was then.

Although I was getting a bit worried when i walked in just now and could not see them on the floor with the other bills (they had landed and lent themselves upright against the wall blank side facing outwards)

...and also I'm pretty sure we had a 2 week build up to the final that year, think Britain qualified by beating the Aussies and the Kiwi game in between was a dead rubber. Getting to 39,000 would have needed a lot of tickets to be shifted in one week - anything north of 33,000 is a result I reckon. I like the way they held the upper tier back too, so the rest of the ground will be packed to the rafters.

I got 4 at 11am this morning and was told only 600 left that was before the top tier had been open.

You dont read the papers been ad's in there everyday for the last 4 weeks for each Englang game.

On the top tier ones it says there is a restricted view. Anyone know how much of a restricted view? Also, are they opening any more of the top tier? I am struggling to find 2 seats together anywhere! I really don't want to miss out!

As a massive Leeds United fan (knowing nearly every view in the ground!) i'd say try and get two tickets together anywhere else in the ground. The top tier of the Family/East stand is ok but is too far away from the action in my opinion, the restricted view seats are also likely to be at the top of the stand where you will struggle to see anything.

Looking at how sales have gone and not that many tickets left i'd say the upper should be open from tommorow, i could be wrong though.

I get our local paper and haven't noticed anything(but then it only really takes 2mins to flick through and i might have missed it).

I'm taking about advertising on billboards, bus shelters and local radio. I've not seen anything like that which is dissapointing. When Wigan played Leeds in the 'big one' they did all of those and more and it worked.

The RFL need to start doing the same.

Iv seen one of those advertising trucks driving around with the 4Nations banner on the side of it around J27 of the M62

But nothing in our local press.

adverts have been in our local rag "pontefract and castleford express" for the past month with all the offers and deals.yesterdays addition add a full interview with michael shenton appealing for cas fans to get their in numbers to support him and england.

Out of a choice between the East Stand Higher Tier near the corner, the cheaper tickets high up in the south stand on the corner what would you go for?
