It does need to be grounded. A very poor decision. As mentioned on Sky, had that been an attempt to score a try it would not have been given.

I cant stand giving points to losing sides. Its an utterly stupid thing. Union do well by giving their teams points for scoring X tries in a game. That cant happen in RL because its surpassed usually in the first half. Its a half decent idea, but if you lose then sorry you deserve 0 points.
As for same old, i expected (and tweeted) a relatively easy win for Wigan but id not have put Leeds by 30 and Huddersfield by 30+.

Same old whingeing from RL fans. STFU.

No, you have to give today's losers a chance to moan. Then we can shut the thread and get on with our lives.

| The ball clearly bounced off George's foot and I'm surprised that wasn't spotted
Mind you the officials missed all the niggling from Saints all game (especially Wilkin) and what's worse singled out Luke O'Donnel to warn him for running in when LoD was absolutely no where near. Typical refs working on reputation and not events

I did laugh at that.
There were some odd refereeing decisions BUT they went both ways so i accept that as part of the game.
What i cannot understand is the PTB rule. We got pinged quite rightly and in the pre season friendlies were hammered for it Yet it now seems to have dissappeared until next week when some team will be hammered for it all game.

| Rather than looking at how 'poor' Saints were, Hudds look a very good unit and will do this to a few teams in 2013. I expected the Leeds result, but was impressed that Hull kept it close for a long time.

League amplifies small advantages much more than most sports - there's less, compared to other sports, a side can do tactically to compensate when it starts to go wrong. You can't 'park the bus' as in soccer or keep kicking for touch like in Union ( if, say, you happen to be OK at lineouts ) You can't even hog possesion by sticking the ball up your jumper - you get your set, then they get a go, regardless.
Leeds - Hull was a classic example of a score line not really giving a 'fair' ( whatever that means ) indication of the gap between the teams.
Not a lot you can do about it, its mostly down to the 'pure', nowhere-to-hide nature of the game that we love, so will always be there, particularly since we no longer have mudbaths ( which were a good 'leveller' )
Do nothing. Don't even think about hindering the best teams still more with daft ideas like lower caps! Won't work.'"
Whoa, there. There is way too much sense in that post-it seems you understand the game.
Don't you mean to blame players for throwing in the towel when it goes wrong? Or referees for seeming to favour one side?
In seriousness, your post hits the nail on the head-we have an issue with 'certainty of outcome' in the sport, and upsets are harder to come by (in football, bag a dull draw with Utd, and your got a 'good result). It means we need to work harder to have a better spread of talent, and allow this years struggling clubs to be better next year.
We need to realise the salary cap doesn't do this and I'm starting to bang drum for a draft system.'"
I think a draft is too artificial for British tastes. I also don't like letting the smaller clubs off the hook when it comes to improvement. There's got to be some incentive for bigger gates, better youth systems, etc. Its probably not an issue for the NFL, with a relatively small number of franchises for a massive supporting population - they can get sellout crowds regardless, so a draft is OK there.
I've always said that the problem we tried to fix ( i.e. Wigan winning everything) was slightly misdiagnosed. It wasn't that they had the best 13, it was that they had the best 26, thus keeping talent away from their rivals, and therefore shortchanging fans across the sport who missed out on watching great players who were sat keeping a bench warm.
I personally believe that the cap should be structured with only one motivation - preventing financial idiocy. If you've found the money, well done for bringing it in to our sport, go spend it on superstars if you like. But...we should still have a mechanism to stop total dominance - I think very tough squad limits do this - for example you can only have 13 on superstar wages. With injuries, etc, even signing some of the world's best in that 13 doesn't guarantee season-long dominance.

| A draft isnt too artificial for the British. I dont think most would really have an opinion on it at all.
It would mean a complete restructure of the game, and clubs working together for the good of the game.
It would be fairly simple to implement. The two difficulties would be getting the clubs trusting each other and working together, and selling it to the clubs who, through their own hard work, endeavour and investment, have gained a market advantage and getting them to give that up.

These crazy huge winning margins really show what a massive gulf there is between the top teams and the bottom though, don't they? ANd how predictable its all become.
Take Hudds yesterday, obviously. And Bulls today...

He can't differentiate with people having debate/concerns about the game and someone having nothing at all good to say. Some points are valid though are met with apathy because, as you say, he becomes a bore.
