| Ted Richardson sold belle view to bank of Ireland then leased it back. Glover took out a rolling annual lease when he took over to cover the gap til new markets ready iirc.

No cheap tickets this year so let's see the attendance figures again this season. Helped contribute with a few thousand WTW fans to a 9000 attendance v Leeds on Boxing Day.

| I hope no one has forgotten the time when the RFL assisted a Super League club which was relocated from Bridgend,South Wales up to Wrexham.
The stadium was later involved [url=http://www.walesonline.co.uk/news/wales-news/wrexham-fans-fear-ground-fall-1857844STORY[/url
This, after the head coach and some players left the club without their due payment.
Strangely, the individual who welcomed the club to Wrexham [url=http://www.therfl.co.uk/news/article/16126The Chief Executive[/url would possibly fail the Fit and Proper Person Test some time later, after his conviction, even though it appears the offence occurred previous to his rugby league involvement [url=http://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north-wales-news/paul-retout-former-wrexham-fc-6239400STORY[/url
Can only hope the coaching staff, players and supporters of Bradford Bulls are able to enjoy 2014.

Last seasons attendance figures seemed, for whatever reason, to be inflated ad this is unlikely to be the case in the future.
Indeed, the last game of the season (against Cas) was only recorded at 6404, when most regulars wold have said there were around 8500 in the ground.
So if we go for realism, coupled with the lack of cheap season tickets, Wakefields attendances will certainly be lower next season, maybe down to 5500 - 6000, certainly nowhere near 8500.

| Trinity don't own Belle Vue, A Ted Richardson owned company bought it for around £3m. Wakefield recieved approximately half as a down payment. This company subsequently went into so now the Bank of Ireland own it. I believe Trinity pay roughly £200k per annum in rent. For £1.2m the the RFL could probably buy the whole ground and rent it back to Trinity at a more agreeable rate if they so desired.

| Quote ="MjM"Who owns Belle Vue? My understanding was that Wakefield had no assets of any significance (certainly not a valuable long leasehold) which the RFL could pick up. At the Bulls, securing the lease of the ground made good financial sense. Of course, absent any assets on which to secure their money, the RFL consistently offers clubs like Wakefield, who have perpetual cashflow crises, advances on the clubs' Sky cash.
You basically appear to be asking that Wakefield be just given money for nothing - are they a unique special case?'"
As my support of RL is not limited to the last 15 months I know that there were many times when the RFL could have bought all or part of BV. So abundant assets available. HTH.
I do not think the RFL should have bought BV or indeed Odsal. If wood and the non execs want to be property developers they should go and set up a private company with their own money.
Using the game's funds to significantly back some clubs and not others is poor practice.
If Nige and the non execs want to run a club they should stand down and use their own money to buy the Bulls. Wood can use his Halifax experience to turn the bulls around.

The problem appears to be that you are incapable of understanding that situations are different, and therefore responses must be different. The RFL can intervene in certain circumstances, but in the Wakefield case the club has nothing to offer back in exchange.
The underlying delusion of Wakefield fans that the RFL has done nothing to help their club is the biggest problem of course - they have bent over backwards in advancing funds and offering off-field support and all they ever get is abuse.

Do try and go back more than a few months (try 4 or 5 years) and you will better understand the ownership of BV. It may stop you drawing these conclusions.
The financial assistance given to the Bulls dwarfs the aid given to other clubs.
As I have already posted I do not think the RFL executive should use the game's funds to support their favourites.
Perhaps Wood and the non execs should get SL sponsors rather than buy ground leases or put their energy into retaining millions of pounds from Sport England for the good of RL rather than waste time and resources backing certain clubs more than others?

Does it matter? How much more than needed have they given Bradford over other clubs/ how much less than needed have they given other clubs compared to Bradford should be more pertinent?
I'm not sure why any of this matters, Bradford had a saleable asset, they went and found a buyer, the rfl, a price was negotiated and the money was used to prop the club up for a few months. If, for example, saints sold langtree park to the rfl tomorrow for 20million and used the money to make a big bonfire, that would be unfair too?

Sorry, but that's simply untrue; most Wakefield fans are aware that the RFL have assisted the club and for those who weren't convinced, our new Chairman has made it abundantly clear; he recently posted on our board that without their help, we wouldn't have survived Mr Glover's financial prestidigitation.
I know a sweeping generalisation can help to advance an argument, but you're not having that one.

I was of the opinion all teams have a number of delusional fans?
As a Wakefield supporter, I’m well aware of the assistance given by the RFL to my club.
The greatest irony of your post is, I presume you think you’re debating with a Wakefield fan .

| Quote ="Leaguefan"Similar lease scenario at the Cougars.
My understanding is the Co-Op own the ground and the RFL hold the lease from the last time the Cougars went down the pan.
The
The way it works is that the RFL pay the lease so the cougars can play at the ground and the money is taken from the central pool fund that is paid to the club.
As usual the Cougars lead and the Bulls follow
'"
This is not the case.
The keighley lease was up for renewal and there was a distinct possibility that the co-op might try the wriggle out of a renewal and build on the land.
The RFL became involved to negotiate on Keighley's behalf with the net result that they took up the lease and sublet to Cougars. They did not give keighley a wedge of cash.
The other club that was saved by the rfl giving them a million quid (after lurching from one financial crisis to another in the mid 90's) was Huddersfield, who absorbed Sheffield, took their coach and players, pretended to be "merged" then spat them out .

You seem to be clueless on the merger. Each club entering the merger got their SL money. The cost of paying off a whole squad / coaches / management and admin staff would be well over £1m.
In 1999 the merger option was agreed by both the RFL executive and SL clubs. All SL clubs were openly aware of this option and free to apply for it.This is very different from the RFL executive clandestinely putting money into the Bulls - never seeking SL support/consent; never openly giving all SL clubs the option to apply for their leases or grounds to bought by Nigel Wood and the non execs.
The preferential treatment of some clubs by the RFL and their tampering is not the job of a Governing body IMO.

Umm...
A) sl clubs were consulted about the Bradford situation Eamon McManus in particular was very vocal about saving the bulls, source: www.saintsrlfc.com/news/page/2241
B) Bradford offered the lease, if I wanted to sell my car to a friend, I don't have to offer to open market before selling, I just sell it to my friend - why would I? Equally if I wanted to buy a car, do I have to go around asking everyone if they want to sell before buying? Selling the ground is a last resort for clubs financially, and it shouldn't be actively encouraged, and should only be in necessary circumstances.
C) you keep talking about preferential treatment, and I like how the unfair treatment your club got doesn't count as unfair treatment, but yet to actually hit on anything for the last 5 pages ... Do you actually listen to anything anyone else posts or do you just plough on stomping your feet saying it's not fair?

| The only issue with the RFL aquiring the lease on Odsal is that essentially Bradford will probably need to remain a SL club to afford to either pay the rental, or buy it back
