Fair enough - it just seems a bit sad that Quins have such a facility and can't even dream of filling it!

You are quite a petulant child for a mod! As your sig says, you are in SL for 2012 and you have a nice modern ground... so grow up now eh?

But I think Fully was answering the question on how many teams will own their new ground. It doesn't matter if Wheldon Road has charges on it, because the question was about the new stadium.
So, of the new stadiums being/been built, apart from Cas who else owns/would own their shiny new ground?

I just find it a little curious that a few of your fans are discussing these stadiums as if they are all but built, when in reality they have been "all but built" for quite some time. Except they haven't, and I'm not the only fan who wont believe either until they open.
Salford's is a reality. Saints' is a glorious reality. Cas and Wakey do not have new stadiums and no amount of fancy pictures and press releases will change that.

You're right, I was, something which the few Wakefield fans on here forgot to note, considering it asked that very question. Instead, they went for the usual swipe.

Whose fans?
You also make some, if not particular astute and knowledgeable, valid observations but I am not sure why being blatantly sarcastic is helping either. I thought you would have understood the ramifications of being condemned to NL1 if not actually being sent down to NL1 at the behest, sorry due to the transparent application process, of the RFL.
I only hope that Salford (and I do mean this) can afford the rent!

Would Cas own this proposed new ground? I was lead to believe that Opus would be fully funding on the condition that Weldon Road gets PP for a supermarket. Considering that I would very surprised to see them invest millions and have no charge on the ground when quite clearly they are in a strong negotiating position?

Right to clarify for you and the othe Wakefield fans who don't understand:
Cas own Wheldon Road.
Opus are buying Wheldon Road
The money given will be enough to build the new stadium.
Cas will pay for new stadium using money given for our asset, Wheldon Road.
In turn, yes, Cas WILL own Glasshoughton because they are paying for it themselves from selling their asset.

Yes Cas would own it. Opus are wanting the land where WR is now to build their project. The bit where it says Opus would fund our new stadium simply means they'd be coughing up the cash to get our project under way. After all, they can't build the supermarket, and make their money until we're moved out. They aren't paying for our new stadium so they can run it and bring in money etc, they are basically giving us the cash up front before we move out.

I find it very hard to believe Weldon Roads value is the same as funding a brand new stadium. We have had this argument a hundred times over in last couple of years (the long running Ben Baileys saga). A massive difference between both values imo. Considering a similar proposed size stadium at Newmarket was estaimated at around 20 Million we can assume Cas minus the community training pitches would be at least 15 Million, no way in this world is WR road worth that.
The way I see it, is that planning permission for the WR supermarket project is by no way a gimmie (hence the Newmarket style petition). Now to make planning permisson more likley we have the community angle on it where Opus offer to make the shortfall up for Glasshoughton thus the fully funded new stadium. This is Castlefords only option and the one holding all the cards are people paying for the WR land. If cas don’t like it what option have they got…None, the land is practically worthless for housing, this is your only hope.

| What Fully and marshman have posted is very true, but it sort of misses the true point I think people also need to understand.
Opus are only buying it if certain conditions are met, namely planning for a supermarket. The increased (and necessary we are told) value of the land is totally dependent on this planning. Opus are funding this application and all the work required, although they are not planning on doing the majority of the work required until after July, to submit an application in October... the 25th October to be precise!
So yes, unlike Newmarket where the developer of that site is paying for the new stadium is he only willing to do so if he can develop land HE owns around the stadium. Opus are only willing to pay the increased value (possibly over-inflated?) to Castleford for land THEY own if he gets to develop this land into a Supermarket. Different yes, because Cas will always own that ground until sold, and the new ground if built (although we think that they will not be the sole owner or at least have new loans or charges secured on it of course) meaning that they have other options if this doesn't work out in future. Wakefield don't 'currently' have the same asset or therefore safety net, but the current positions of the two only differ in this regard... everything else is very similar! To deny so, is missing the point of the reliance both clubs currently have on their respective developer partners. To be fair, this is no different to Wigan, Warrington, Saints etc, etc that have all gone down this route successfully before.

So far, from a few meagre comments on the subject you have accused me of being petulant, which is an accusation I could certain level at you, and then made out I am being "blatantly sarcastic", for which I would ask for evidence.
Aside from the pseudo intellectual babble about astuteness and knowledgeability you've only actually addressed anything I've said in the first two words. "Whose fans?"
Your fans. And Castlefords fans. Who are currently arguing with each other on this very thread about the state of their "new grounds". Neither has started to actually build a ground or is strictly closer to it right now than they have been since they started the process. They've both hit major stumbling blocks and are currently in a state of rest.
It's rather like arguing over which of your imaginary friends has the best centre parting.
As for the second point, which I don't know why you've brought up as I didn't mention it, how I feel about being "condemned" to the "NL1" (or the championship as it's known, perhaps you'd have known that if you paid attention to it instead of writing it off as oblivion), I know all too well. Certain clubs have to live with that reality now and will be for years to come.
Why is it any more of an outrage to drop Wakefield than to keep Halifax, Leigh, Featherstone and more down there indefinitely? You had your chance, they haven't. And whilst I can certainly sympathise with any fans feeling like politics have left them vulnerable you're certainly a club who has been in a priviliged position in recent times in comparison to others and cannot really complain about the system. You can bang on about not finishing in a relegation position, but your club has known the ground had to be sorted for a lot longer than the license period, and it hasn't achieved anything. Neither have Cas either. So whoever goes this time around, they had ample warning, they had the chance to improve, they had super league funding for years.

Armadillo is a Leeds fan? Well apologies, I had him down as a Wildcat which is understandable considering the time he spends sticking up for them.
My point's still stand though.

I know Leigh is an example of this but they are not in super league, I'm sure if they were then the stadium would have huge benefits.
It has for every other super league club.
You must also remember a stadium is a LONG TERM investment... it's not just about revenue next season, it is the next 100 years.
