True
In fact I'll post in support of what Cas are attempting to do
Having a nice shiney stadium that you dont control is a recipe for disaster , the only way a club like Cas and others of similar size can ever hope to compete in the top tier is if they own and control all the revenue streams of their home , only by doing that will they ever have the finance to challenge the top clubs
Playing in what to all purposes is a council facility does little more than strangle all but the big city clubs
So even though I have had some amusement at Castlefords cost , they are attempting to do things in the best way they can , and should be applauded for that
Still dont think they will be playing at Glasshoughton till at least May 2013 though

| Quote ="The Lucky Black Cat"So thats Cas out then. Richard Wright has made various stadium announcements and how many have actually happened?
Cas have a good record of bringing kids through. Shame they always move on like Shenton Westerman Orr Lynch etc.
Cas have never averaged anywhere near 10.000 and the reality is never will. Cas have punched above there weight in the past but this is more or less 2011. Cas are unlikely ever to win a cup or GF ever again unless millions are pumped in. The game has moved on when Cas could be considered a team to win things. Championship teams can even match and beat Cas as the Cup has shown.'"
Ah, wondered how long that would be brought up. You see, the beauty of the cup - in any sport - is that shocks can happen. It just so happened that Barrow met us when we were in one of the lowest periods I've known it in the last few years. Additionally, it also coincided when we struggled with injuries. They deservedly beat us but had they met Castleford on any other occasion, they would have probably lost and many Barrow fans have said the same.
I've already disproved your comments about players on the Fax forum but your blatant inability to include anything factual makes you seem little more than just a troll. Same thing regarding the stadium UPDATES. Note I said updates, not different stadium plans. The only thing different we've done regarding the stadium is scale it down and change the design of the stadium to make it more cost-effective and therefore increase the chances of the thing being built.
I notice you have neglected to respond to my other post above, though, or is that purely because it shows you up to be the petty troll you are.

Well, clubs can still be strong by owning a part-share or even renting a stadium if the agreement is in their interests. Having your own stadium that meets the standards and is brand spanking new is an absolute dream. On the whole, that is what Cas are trying to do and if it gets built they would have to be applauded. They will have effectively funded it by themselves and whilst there is a Council input, that is done by the provision of land to loan against.

Not being picky here squire, but how can you not change the stadium plans but yet scale it down and change the design of the stadium?.

I was thinking the same! If you change the design of something, you've changed the bloody plans!

I meant in terms of location. We've kept to the same place for the last six years and not budged despite circumstances where so many would have thrown in the towel. Sure we've had to make amendments to our plans but name one club that hasn't during the economic climate?

I think that's what people have a problem with. Six years later and it's still at the planning stage. You can understand people's snide comments can't you? Until the bricklayer slaps down the first lego piece it's cynical city on here I'm afraid - same goes for Wakey and Salford.

Stadia were/are still not seen as priorities for clubs.
Crocked pension seeking over paid aussies etc were/are.
I wonder where all the money and effort went?
Now it's time to act there are "problems".
Some clubs actually did something, others sat on their collective backsides and have done nowt.
Which clubs "fans" don't like the "truth"?

Why should you throw in the towel and move? the location is ideal for you and if it came free you would have been silly to look elsewhere and in all probability would have had to pay for the land assuming land was available, and you would still have been in the unfortunate position of having your assets frozen because of Hickson+Welch and then the economic climate and the down turn in the housing industry. Sure you have had to make amendments to your plans its called cutting your cloth etc, why not just say it as it is and not how you would like it to be, you would not have to back peddle then squire, your the only one in this situation btw, Saints and Salford are on their way, Wakey's landlords have the finance and nothing to spend it on.

Yes, but that is not down to Castleford - we have been ready to go for a few years now. It's the fact that the chemical licence from across the road at Hicksons has not been revoked until earlier this year. This has meant we've been unable to progress the sale of the Probiz Coliseum and therefore free up the funding. We could have had this built by now if we had not been hindered by that.

Well, we shouldn't have had to move but it could and would have been so easy to say sod it, let's groundshare at Newmarket, sell The Jungle and ensure we have a bit of financial backing for the future. Well, no we're not the only ones who are/were in this situation. Salford, if I remember rightly from reading their forum a few months back, made amendments to their plans and reduced the capacity because of the costs their original designs would have been. Also, they've had to phase their stadium in three stages due to the costs, I think. The only difference between all these clubs is that we have had no major financial backer to put money in (i.e. the council) and we're the only club to have the chemical works on our doorstep preventing us from the moving project forward.
Saints and Salford are both on their way but it would be silly to even bring Saints into the equation. Salford are doing the groundworks and with the current weather, it is highly unlikely IMO, that they'll start building until the New Year at the earliest. Wakey state they have the finance, but like Cas, we've yet to actually see any evidence of that.

Fully old boy its you what is bringing other clubs in to compare with yours not me, good luck with the build if and when it comes off, your bad luck with the blast zone coupled up with the recession is well documented on here and I am sure there is every sympathy from the fans on here towards Cas. The thing is that when you and a couple of other Cas fans that come on here explaining how it is sometimes try to guild the lily somewhat and some of the facts you present don't always add up thats all, you are having to do what Salford have done if indeed that is what they have done, the difference is they did not say that their plans had not changed when clearly they have, yours on the other hand have not according to you. By the way fwiw at no time have Wakefield TW ever said that they have the finances available when it is also well documented that we are soley reliant on outside funding, the community trust and its partners may have said that but we as a club realise that we will be like 75% of SL simply tenants.
