| Why Bolton, it only holds about 2,000 more than Wigan?

| Quote ="Londo06"Anfield. Get St Helens fans to get on board to support St George Illawarra Dragons. Get Wigan fans hyped up for an England vs Aus clash, Wigan vs St Helens clash and Wigan vs St George Illawarra Dragons clash.
If you can't get up for that then you really aren't a proper Saints or Wigan fan.
DW too small, aim to fill Anfield, a stadium that Wigan have won the World Club Challenge in before. (yet another angle)'"
thats a great shout, ideal size ground, and the scousers certainly need the money

| I hope that it is not at the reebok, only holds few thousand more than dw, so no point, transport is quite poor at anfield so not sure you would get massive support and as a wigan fan i would not want to win the wcc in scouser land, if we can have internationals at the dw when we are more likely to get neutrals then I see no reason in holding the wcc at the dw and getting a full house.

| Is there enough room at the DW to put up temporary stands in the corners, pack a few more in and get it towards 30k?

| Eastlands would have been ideal if the owners would allow it but i'm fairly sure they have said no to any other sport there.

| Just have it at the DW.
Nice stadium.
There will be hardly any genuine St Ge*rge Ill*warra fans there anyway. Anyone supporting them will be a Saint Helens fan or any other supporters that dont like Wigan. And not many of those will bother coming as it will be on the TV anyway.
Does the DW sell out for a Wigan v Saint Helens fixture?
The crowd for the WCC wont be as high as that game.
So just stick with the DW.

| I reckon the DW will sell out pretty easy mate. A lot of neutrals will turn up just for how good a game it looks, then you've got the fans who want to support the English over the Aussies. Also it is the season curtain raiser so a lot will be missing decent sport.
Crowd was 20498 against Saints Baz and the empty seats looked more in the Saints end
22701 against Warrington but I do remember there was something about reserved seating or something that reduced the capacity for that one.

I see your thinking Jonny, but how many other WCC games in the last 10 years or so have sold out?
Of course the wigan fans will go.
No genuine Aussie St George Illawarra fans will bother .. unless there are any living over here... and I'll be honest I think I have seen 2 in London since ive lived here
The St G*orge Illa*arra team will be the usual second string type side that seems to come over.
Did you know when Melbourne Storm came over last time they drew lots to see who stayed at home?
The first team regulars that came over all drew short straws!

| I'm torn on who I want to win. St.George are my NRL team. I'm from Leigh, so i'm anti-Wigan, but i'm also patriotic so I want the English team to win.

Serious question Jonny.
Why would someone from Leigh go for St G*orge Ill*warra?
I fail to see the connection.
Unless its the Ian Millward thing?

| Think everyone is getting a bit carried away here. If we cannot fill a stadium for a GB v Australia match then why take it to a larger stadium.Lets be honest the RL will do nothing to promote the game so alarger stadium like Anfield half full is going to be an embarrasment to us so why not Reebok?
Certainly don't want to go to scouseland, as someone said the transport links aren't great, and its bad enough going to stains each year.
I suppose the DW is out as if wigan win there then the aussies will only add 'its at thier home ground' excuse to their complete set of reasons why we lost etc, etc.

Just play it at Wigan.
Nobody from Australia cares.
99.9% of the crowd will be Wigan fans.
So why bother playing it anywhere else?

jonny 9 times out of 10 I would shout for thr opposition every time when Wigan play.
But when any English team play the Aussies I always shout for the English team even if it does mean shouting for the Goons.

Barry McKenzie wont be living in the UK when this fixture is on.
But if I was I'd be going for Wigan too

| I have an idea. It doesn't help Liverpool, it's an amazing ground for atmosphere, it's a generally nice ground, it's near Wigan and St Helens and with the right publicity, it could sell out.
Goodison Anyone?

I think that's my way of thinking mate. Aussies are bad winners, not sure I could put up with it. Pity they don't win much.

| I would love to see this match staged as a major event and therefore taken to Anfield, Eastlands, Old Trafford or even Wembley.
We just have to face facts though fello enthusiasts.
The RFL will be making every effort to ensure the Millenium Stadium is promoted as much as possible to ensure a decent crowd to kick off SL in the right manner and therefore will not have the resources to give the World Club Championship full attention.
To fill a larger stadium which isnt in Wigans backyard is a tough task and with no national media coverage or promotion it would be a massive risk.
A full DW Stadium is therefore the only obvious and low risk option which will provide the setting for a superb night.
I dont mean to be small minded hear but realistic.
