| The point of the match on Saturday is simple , It tells us where the French are in development terms , and at the moment they are no further than they were 4/5 years ago
Does this mean we shouldn't play them ? , No , we must keep the mid season International going no matter what
The French squad will be tested against lesser opposition when they compete in the Euro cup in November , this is when they must perform if they are to retain their place in the 2011 Quad nations
The problem the French have in developing a quality team to compete with England and ultimatley the Aussies/Kiwi's is that any real talent will be poached by the French union clubs , they have a very difficult job on their hands
The solution ? , well once again it comes down to money , pure and simple , the best athlete's in France will play union or move to union when the money is on offer , so the problem is , how do the French RL clubs find more money ?

| The sad fact is France are only included in the 4 nations to give England a chance of winning a game if NZ have an off day.
France have no chance of beating England NZ or Australia in any 4 nations and their inclusion is a total waste of time.

Totally incorrect , the inclusion of a 4 th team both evens out the fixtures and gives something for countries in both hemispheres something to play for

Well... the fixtures worked pretty well when it was the old 'tri nations' didn't they?
Seriously.
What is the point in Australia v France? or NZ v France? England are probably the closest nation to the French in terms of talent and even they can flog them.
France as a national side are a bit of a joke.
They might beat Wales or Ireland... but one of the so called 'big 3'??
Nope.

I'm not against a second French SL team, but I think to really advance the international games against France (and Wales for that matter) we not only need to get a better grassroots level in France, but promote a greater spread of French players throughout all Super League Squads, as well as having a predominantly French Catalans squad (which they do now).

| Would France even want to play against Yorks or Lancs, a nation versus a region ?
It would be rather embarrassing when they get tonked by the red or white roses.

I reckon the French national side would struggle to beat a side like Harlequins right now
Seems strange France are ranked above Fiji in the RLIF rankings to me.

I agree, France is just Catalans without the half decent Aussies, the Aussie that they miss being replaced by NL1 players.

| France have more of a chance against Lancs and Yorks or West/East England, because you are splitting up the main talent pool in this country yet still both those clubs are better than France.
A Barbarians side would be at the same level as a L/Y or W/E ENG team.
As a spectacle
A four team tournament that would be competitive
a) West England
b) East England
c) Barbarians(Antipodeans)
d) Rest of Europe

Well Australia and NZ played one another in the Southern Hemisphere before having to fly 12,000 miles to play in cold wet windy England to play against GB... on their home turf.
If anyone has got anything to complain about it should be Aus or NZ really.

| Alll these people bleeting about playing
France, get a grip, they need to play internationals
to help raise the profile of the game in France.
So they were beaten, but belive it or not, it's not
like England can beat Australia in any meanful game is it
should we just scrap internationals altogether because
some nations are stronger than others
can someone just remind these people, previous to nz
which was the last country to beat Australia in a series

I don't begrudge playing France. What concerns me is that the sole annual tonking doesn't help France get closer to us and doesn't help us get closer to the Aussies. Like I said, I think we need a little bit more imagination with the international fixtures.

which is why england should play the "Other nationalities" and france play england 'A'...that way everyone gets a good, solid hit out..england get a more intense fixture and france get more of a chance of winning..or at least it being a competitive game...
its not bloody rocket science is it?

| I still think you should only play tests against teams no higher or lower than two places above or below you in the World Rankings. This way there is a motiv to play, to progress through the rankings and 'test' (remember that word!) against the best. Ok, France would play England and probably lose, but then they would play teams ranked lower and compete and improve.

Cant wait for that all important Tokelau v Ukraine match
That Vasilly Kovaramoprovovitchka is sheer quality
The rankings are such a waste of time, I cant see how Malta are better than Nieu even if they do have Mario Fenech's half sister playing five eighth

No, please check my previous posts about what fixtures I think should take place regarding France. I also think the FRL should be trying to get fixtures against the likes of Tonga, Samoa, Fiji and PNG.
To repeat myself, I don't think you've any hope of getting an "Other Nationalities" team in this professional era.
