You'll have been too busy abusing the match officials and shouting "fooooorwaaaaard" to take notice of what was happening on the pitch, don't let your poor recollection worry you.

| Quote ="Andy Gilder"Would that be the same "shoulder barge" that everyone creamed over SBW delivering in the WCC at Elland Road to Marcus Bai? You know, the one that left Bai concussed. I seem to remember the majority view at the time being that it showed how rock hard and brilliant Williams was.
Those who go on about Bailey "being a thug" and "hiding" in that game might want to watch the next couple of minutes after the incident with Fa'asavalu. IIRC the next Leeds set Saint Kieron of Pukka attempts to twist a Leeds player's head off in a grapple. Leeds kick to touch and first up from the tap restart is Bailey, who runs 20 yards infield to go straight at James Graham who had been doing his usual jaw flapping.
Doesn't sound like a player who "goes hiding" to me, but hey what would I, Tony Smith, Brian McLennan and David Waite (IIRC - think Waite was in charge when Bailey played for GB) know about it compared to you folks?'"
Andy i have never condoned ANY player amature or pro delivering a shoulder barge, in my eyes its a cheap shot. you wont find me "creaming" over anyone receiving an attack from a shoulder barge, as you have witnessed it is done to cause injury usually a facial or concussion one and sometimes a shoulder one to the so called defender......a poor excuse for a tackle by any player.

Not sure what he called him to be honest, couldn't give a toss, was a couple of beauties from Scully though.

| Ryan Bailey is the greatest wind up merchant in the world. People bang on about how he goes hiding etc. He goes hiding after sparking something off so the opposition can't get a return hit on him, not because he's soft but before he knows it'l put the opposition off their game plan.
I wouldn't swap Ryan for anyone.

Get a grip. So if you were offered Bailey for Burgess in a straight swap? Or Bailey for Graham? Or Bailey for Bailey (NRL stylee)? Or Bailey for Morley? Or Bailey for LMS? Or Bailey for Price?
You're having a giraffe.
When things go slightly off course at Leeds, like the annual exit from the Challenge Cup, he is the first name Leeds fans look to in order to blame the defeats on someone. Yet when you win the GF, it's because Ryan was 'immense'.
I bet he did no more than 5 hit ups in the GF, and I bet he walked more metres to pick up his medal than he made during the game.

Sculthorpe was more than capable of unleashing a couple of beauties, but those really werent. A Punch at a player playing the ball that simply knocked the player into the player behind him wasnt Sculthorpes proudest moment.
Look at him against Australia (Fitzgibbon i think) to see Sculthorpe unleash a couple of beauties, his handbags against Bailey wouldnt even merit a mention if it wasnt Bailey he had hit.

There you go again mis-quoting no-one has said we won the GF'S because of him nor that he's the best prop around
He played well in those games but none of you Bailey haters will admit that you'd just prefer to chelp about what you think he is.
As for his hit-ups in the last GF watch it again and watch how batters your mob in defence and virtually walks over the invisible man.

| The key word here is team, obviously. Ryan Bailey may not be the best individual prop around, but his job in the team that's won the last 3 GF's is pretty well-defined. Most of the the better individual props named will probably never win 4 GF winners medals for as long as they play.
I think that's what the Stains fans are having trouble grasping. Hope this helps.

If James Graham or Sam Burgess were prepared to come to Leeds for Bailey's supposed salary then yes, I'd consider swapping him them.
Then again, salary cap management isn't the sort of thing that St Helens have got a very good grasp of really is it?

So what you're really saying is the Leeds pack havent all been fit for the last 7 years and that;s why he gets in.
Tell me why he still keeps getting a new contract at the games premier club if he's so crap?

Sculthorpe had many free punches and still couldn't put Bailey on his backside.

| It's funny how some players can get such a reaction and make even the most rational posters froth at the mouth (Fearthevee for example - I expect better from you )
Anyway the pick of this thread are these too wondrous peices of logic...
Quote ="Saddened!"And before someone lists the coaches that have picked him, SL coaches have very little say in player matters. If a coach comes over and Bailey is in the squad they just have to deal with it, it's not like they can release him.'"
Eh but they don't have to pick any player they don't think is up to the job. Ask the likes of Matt Adamson and Luke Burgess who've missed out on GF appearances at Ryan Bailey's expense.
Quote ="Saddened!"Leeds are an incredible side, Bailey is your worst player by an incredible distance. I'll be shocked if he's still in the 17 with your pack all fit.'"
Maybe not next year but only time will tell. The fact remains though that Bailey has been a member of the first choice 17 of Leeds' "incredible side" every year since 2004 (the first Grand Final year).

| Alot has been made of the shoulder barge tackle it's my fav part of the game as a born a bred southerner who only got his first chance to play league at 25 I can tell you the rlc is filling up with ru players who love rl for simply this reason! The shoulder barge is great long may it remain. A third man shoulder charge though is naughty and should be banned as that is to injure.

SECTION 11
THE TACKLE AND PLAY-THE-BALL
Tackle player 1. A player in possession may be tackled by an
in possession opposing player or players. It is illegal to tackle or
obstruct a player who is not in possession.
When tackled: 2. A player in possession is tackled:
Grounded (a) when he is held by one or more opposing players
and the ball or the hand or arm holding the ball
comes into contact with the ground.
Upright (b) when he is held by one or more opposing players
in such a manner that he can make no further
progress and cannot part with the ball.
Succumbing (c) when, being held by an opponent, the tackled
player makes it evident that he has succumbed to
the tackle and wishes to be released in order to
play the ball.
Hand on player (d) when he is lying on the ground and an opponent
already grounded places a hand on him.
All taken from the RFL all suggest that the player has to be halted either stood up or on the ground with an opponent in contact with the attacking player, a Shoulder barge does neither, and is not mentioned or coached at junior level or shouldn’t be infact the rules of junior rugby deem it an illegal attempt at tackling...it isn’t a technique that coaches especially attempt players to be adept at and I doubt spend or waste time coaching, why because it doesn’t if not performed with the intended result actually stop a player like a well timed tackle, its sole purpose is to halt the run of a player but not effect a tackle. The game is hard enough with faster and harder impact's now than ever before without the need for this type of contact and im amazed the RFL looking at the injuries caused haven’t taken this to task. If you feel it is the favourite part of the game for you , your 1st easily pleased and 2nd pretty poor at proper tackling. My gripe isnt just with Ryan Bailey, as a player i dont like him, but as a squad player he does his job and cheeply looking at comments on here....

Correct
Leo Latu is a real hard man if you dare to uptip his chips. He doesnt think twice about punching women in the face, breaking their nose. A nasty little racist to boot.
Bailey on the other hand as we all know did time in young offenders institute. It all kicked off after he went to help a female who was being assaulted. Obviously he went too far but to compare the two is ridiculous. Wakefield mentality I guess.
