This is a joke. The worst party are the people protesting against the original protesters, all they are doing is bringing attention to the original group. All I can see is lots of ed up rugby fans walking along Picadilly taking the mick out of both sides.

After doing a little research (ok, I Googled it ), it was in support of the Welsh Defence League.

No way any trouble will go unreported though, it will be all over the front pages tomorrow. And even if there isn't any trouble, the gutter press will probably just end up paying people to scrap, as they have at England games abroad in the past.

(And I say this as someone who is firmly in the middle of the road and couldn't really give a jot either way; left and right are just as bad as each other).

It's still a lawful legitimate protest, like it or not. It's how it's done in a democracy. If we outlawed these protest we would not really be a democracy.

I don't see all the fuss, the EDL say that they are a multi racial group that oppose radical islamification of the country. If there multi racial and oppose racism I can't see how they can be classed as racist. From what I understand is that their main grievance was against radical Muslims abusing our troops home coming.

Most of the trouble makers seen to come from the counter demonstrators. It was certainly them rioting outside that mosque in London the other week.

i don't have any time for the student leftys but the edl are at best a bunch of football hoolies with connections with several casual firms and several with criminal convictions. if thats all we got to represent english culture then im glad im in wales.

I don't think they represent anyone but themselves. But I do believe they have a right to protest, them or anyone. Thats what makes us a democracy.

er no it isnt. the right to elect our legislators is what make us a representative democracy. no-one has the absolute right to gather in large numbers in the street, its entirely and always has been on sufferance of the authorities.
the fact is that the edl is a gang of violent criminals who are determined to stir up trouble. the problem is that there is plenty of fuel for the fire in this country.

A democracy is not the right to close off a whole city centre or to attempt to stir up racial tention in a very multi-cultural city.
