| Quote ="Eccleshill Rhino"Having watched the Eels v Raiders game the idea that every NRL game is notch up in intensity over the SL is a fallacy - this was a very ordinary game - which is typical of 50% of the NRL matches we see. Anyone who thinks ames like this have reater intensity than the Saints v Leeds ame of last week is simply deluded. Defences on both sides were shambolic - even Hindmarsh failed to prevent a try through a simple missed tackle on his own line.
As for the halves on both sides - it would impossible for McGuire to offer less than any of these four players. Finch his whole game plan was to hoof the ball the high as he could to the hapless Canberra full back who failed more often than not to catch it - so much for high level of basic technique in the NRL
Games like this are as far away from the intensity of a Brisbane v Storm as a lot of SL games.'"

| McGuire is way too inconsistent to be a starting halfback in the NRL, his defence is weak, and for Leeds he tends to not be the main decision maker because they also have Burrow and Sinfield. I do believe that if he had gone to the NRL a couple of yers agio he could have become a very very good stand off (or perhaps more likely scum half) because in flashes he has shown he has got the skills required. Unfortunately the 'half finished product' is probably what he will remain. As do almost all SL halfbacks.

The point is this - McGuire doesn't actually miss that many tackles but like Hindmarsh against Canberra he missed tackle that led to a try in the WCC - so all of a sudden he is a speed bump - as I said your knowledge is so limit as to be laughable.
Now when are you going to show us the half backs making 30 tackles a game regularly - oh no you can't because once again you were talking out of your backside

No Hindmarsh occasionally makes 50 tackles - his average is well below that - in a game and as with any one attempting that many tackles he misses quite a few - maybe you should actually switch the TV on when the games are on!!!
As you say your post are pathetic for someone who supposedly know so much - you are found wanting with every post

| what defence?
if tim smith can get a gig in the NRL,we've all seen his shocking defence this season,so much so he's been canned in favour of a skinny 19 year old, then i'm sure danny mcguire can do it in the NRL...
after all games are'nt won or lost on the defensive displays of a number 6

I understand your reluctance to answer any of the clear points being made. However these are valid arguments.
I don't for one moment think McGuire has what it takes to be an NRL stand off but it does have to be said that many of the players from the NRL who come here don't set the world alight. Tim Smith is an example, the guy is utter rubbish.

heres some advice.
a 5/8th involves a very heavy defensive requirement. when lockyer and inglis moved there they struggled with the additional defence.
halfbacks are generally hidden in defence and dont make many tackles at all.
mcguire as a 6 wouldnt get a nrl job as his defence isnt good enough
he wouldnt get a gig at 7 as he doesnt play there in SL.
now sean long, had he come over he certainly couldve got a job here at 7
indeed leon pryce might also be a good option for someone like the melbourne storm at 6.

Leon Pryce would fit in perfectly with the NRL, judging by the things the players get up to off the field

| When both players were in the same competition McGuire's tackle completion rate was better than Ellis' and he (McGuire) missed fewer tackles.
Those that hold the Australian competition in high esteem probably didn't expect Ellis to achieve the standard he has, just as they're saying the same thing about McGuire.
I've no doubts McGuire could adapt to the Aussie game as well as Ellis has. In fact, I've no doubts that Pryce could either. The problem isn't McGuire or Pryce. Its' the lack of quality behind them. Same in most other positions.
I watch Leeds regularly. McGuire's "poor" defence and lack of creativity is a fallacy advanced by ill informed opposition fans.

seriously id love to see pryce at the storm at 6.
they would improve his game 100%.
they take dud players and make them good.
with someone who has skills like pryce, it would be v.interesting how good they could make him

That is sarcastic surely - he was a dud in the NRL the fact he could get a game every week says much about the standard of the halves in the NRL and when Greg Bird gets a gig in SOO at 6 you know you really are struggling.
But then what options have they got at Parramatta - Brett Finch!!!

Come on don't avoid the question come on shows us the 6's in the NRL making 30 tackles a game - they don't exist - Lockyear's average is 17 and he is the highest - come back when you can prove your point - this is the third time I have asked.

tim smith was a really good player at parra whose form was overshadowed by drinking problems
finch has played origin and not only that, kicked the winning field goal.
finch is also a good half back.

Can't read either - let's make it easy - just show us a half back that has completed 30 tackles in a game on a regular basis as you keep claiming
I'll give you a help in looking in weeks 1 to 3 this season you will not find one so you will need to go back a bit further!!
