I don’t think we were that injury ravaged with only poor old Jowitt out of position, the rest would all be in contention for their respective positions ie Arundel for Tupou is a drop but not massive - he’s still a SL standard centre even if he’s not Bills level.
What is far more important is the quality and the
Form of the absentees. With Johnstone, Topou and Ashurst missing we were suddenly lacking what is arguably the best left edge in SL. I think any fair minded person would concede that’s a huge loss against a top team especially.
For the record those who probably would have played last night were Huby, Randall, Batchelor, Kirmond, Johnstone, Tupou and Ashurst so it’s more than three but our strength in depth nearly covered it but not quiete.
Over all last night was positive for us as only Johnstone is out for the season. Big only I concede.

Just to clarify, it was wakefield who lost. Yet again.'"
Having watched a game with skill, speed, power aggression, a tense finish etc and THAT is your contribution.
I think that had Trinity not had a "rookie" winger and left centre, both playing their first rugby of 2019, it could have all been different. But, well played Warrington for exploiting that.
The comeback from Trinity in the last 20 mins was superb but, the Troll collective dont even acknowledge that.
Whilst most RL fans were enjoying the game certain posters on here were twitching to post some sanctimonious crap (again)
Perhaps you should ask some Wire fans about them not getting out of first gear because they were totally gassed at the end and lucky to hang on for the win.

| Wire always seem to go to pieces when Daryl Clark and Chris Hill go off the field and seem to lose a lot of momentum. If those two are out with injuries for a while that team is going to struggle and an injury ravaged Wakey would have had a greater chance of beating them.
Remarkable turnaround from Wakey, instead of looking at a 50 point tonking managed to score more tries than Wire and they relied on Ratchfords boot in the end.

Are you sure about that, there is a "bigger picture" the top 3 teams will want to open up a points gap between the rest of the league to get that advantage in the top 5 play offs.
There is also the added bonus of the current top 3 beating the bigger clubs of Leeds and Wigan to keep them rooted near the bottom and out of harms way.

If St Helens want to finish top (and why wouldn't they?) they would want their nearest rivals to lose points.

The ideal is to make it a 3 horse race by mid season then think about the major rivals at the latter end of the season. Holbrook saw finishing top and the LLS as a failure last season so he wants to be more ready for the top 5 this season. As he already knows scoring more winning points in the table doesn't mean anything if you can't pick up the major prize.

Ok, so most St Helens supporters were hoping desperately for a Warrington win last night.

Most of the ones on here were just creaming themselves, waiting for the chance to post some more anti Wakefield bilge
Seriously though, I'm pretty sure that they would have wanted to see Wire get beaten.
Surely, they would be happier with the top 2 pulling away from the rest than keeping the league as a 3 horse race.
Right now, getting to Easter and being in a position to secure a decent play off spot will be the primary objective of most sides in SL.

Oh look another "wah wah Troll", just because I dont agree with what someone posted. How utterly original.
Of course I wanted Warrington to lose as there is daylight between us 2 and the rest of the league but Im not going to put them down for winning and try and claim some sort of moral victory because they only won by 2 points.
There is a "W" next to their name, not a "W, but they only won by 2 LOLZ"
Its a mark of a champion team, being able to play badly and still win.

| Fantastic effort from Wakey getting back into that game and nearly sneaking it at the end. I thought it was setting up for a Brough drop goal in Golden Point. It just shows that they have built a decent squad to be able to cover the injuries and compete well. As far as Warrington not getting out of 1st gear - don't make me laugh, they were clinging on at the end. But, I do agree with good teams can play badly and still find a way to win. Warrington were fantastic in the first half, but just managed to hold on in the end. But, a W is a W and you move on. I'm still backing Wakey to make the 5 though.

Good Assessment.
Despite losing we can take heart from that game and move on.

| Really enjoyable last 20 minutes. Shame Warrington got so far ahead early as if that game had been close all match then would have been even more exciting. Bit surprised Brough missed a couple he would normally slot and GP would have been good for neutrals. Thought Mamo scored and the super zoom frame they used was a couple of clicks after the tip was grounded? The obstruction decision was absurd but in both cases I felt Hicks wouldn't have the minerals to overrule his Boss Thaler? Overall twas a good game but a tough loss for Wakey.

Well no, you don't need to stand corrected by delusion or otherwise.. Most St Helens supporters were expecting a Warrington win, when Wakey came back from being 34-12 down and almost got a win that would have been comedy gold.
We are not desperate in any way we will just do what we have done for all the super league era and try and win as many games as we can.

Two points at Belle Vue are not easily gained, as Saints found out.
A wins a win whether by 2 or 52 points.

Sure is, I like Wakey over the last couple of seasons always seem to have a lot of team spirit play tough without the thuggery. The only problem is consistency but that doesn't help if you have some of your major players out.

Did Wakefield introduce the huge rodents into the Warrington dressing room at half time?

I believe Westwood brought a sackful from near his cave on the Sankey Brook at Bewsey, but let them out in the wrong dressing rooms.
