And then, the tin-foil hat brigade will pipe up that the restriction of League in the media is not down to the fact that most of the pro team are within 50 miles of each other, but instead part of a secret Nazi plot to promote one code ahead of another. The 250,000 people who attended the victory parade in 2003, like the 15,000,000 who watched the final were either paid agents of the IRB or mindless sheep who know nothing. In addition, the 70,000,000 viewers the BBC claim for the 15 x 6 Nations games each year are actually BARB bots, sponsored and paid for by the Italian RFU in an attempt to further marginalise League in its' Milanese heartland.
France, where the IRB are still hiding Nazi collaborators, is another area where League is on the cusp of domination, if only they could sort out funding, a business plan, a TV deal and enough players to negate the need for a load of ANZAC back packers to make up numbers.

Let's discuss Union some more shall we?

The average attendance of the Aviva Union is greater.....but as the SL had more games, it actually had more people in attendance. This, to the tin-foil brigade is proof that "if only we could get exposure in the daily mail, we would dominate the globe". The reality is that whilst Twickenham is regularly full for the opening of an envelope, the RFL will be flogging tickets for a tenner to fill the Olympic stadium...because those s at the daily express won't publish SL scores



Then there's the TV deals. £44,000,000 a year across France, Ireland and the UK for 12 weeks action in the european comps......not sure how much that impacts the £38,000,000 a year BT pay for the Aviva, but at a combined £82,000,000 a year for the Euros and UK coverage of the Aviva, it's fair to say that Union commands a "tad" more TV cash than the Red Hall game.

What's that I hear you say? Nobody has said union's not bigger? Then why in christs name mention friggin Union in the first place then? Don't tell me it was simply a critique of the game, not designed to make it look foolish and league better, because it's the only reason any of you dabble with it.

Football attracts money because its the one real global sport not because its so well run. You can count on one hand the number of clubs that are solvent on a trading basis. The model for running a football club is pants - let's take all our revenue and give it to the players!!

RU like it or not generates significantly more income than does RL - I bet one England international generates a similar income to what Leeds generates in a whole year. RL just needs to improve its offering and get on with it

I actually have little if any interest in Union, but the constant referencing to it on here by insecure SAD apprentices would point to it being a staple of the insecure RL fans forum diet.

Given Billy's only experience of Union was an accidental few minutes on the way to the Headingly loo's, the misguided John Steed wannabee managed to ensure that the thread descended into a name calling pi55ing contest faster than you can say "The RFL are useless".
You and the Printer jumped into the debate (sic) whilst the erstwhile J. Steed wannabee decided to imply that some posters were using more then one account....again failing in his SAD entrance examination.
This awoke Him from his slumber.....an occurrence that can only help us to empathise with Burt Reynolds character in the Cannonball Run movies. This masked Avenger (no relation to J.Steed wannabee) somehow connected the dots to come to the conclusion that anyone who compares League to Union unfavourably is automatically paranoid about soccer. Freud would have a field day.
Then some bloke called Galiant popped in with some attendance stats and it was on Like Kong.....

...all of which has taught us nothing about McNamara's continued reign as England coach for the 2015 Kiwi tour, but has again underlined that RL fans of a certain Ilk get very annoyed when the size of it and it's closest relative, Union are compared.

The series outcome will depend on a number of things, some of which will be out of the hands of both coaches. By the time it comes around, many of the players involved will have had very little break from the game since 2012-13 off season. Since then we've had (OR WILL HAVE HAD) 2013 season, RLWC, Auckland 9's, Full season 2014, 4 Nations, Auckland 9's, Full season 2015......and after the Kiwis, it's pretty much full on again all the way through to the 2017 RLWC.
The Aussies have decided it is better to rest their players this year......so the question is, how many of the top level starts from the Kiwis and England will be "rested"? Will the NRL clubs allow their stars to play? If not, will the English clubs follow suit?

Personally, with both teams at full strength I have England 2-1......if both have weakened squads, then NZ 2-1 purely because I believe they have more strength in depth.

I am toying with the idea of coming back for the last game......but if the second is at the Olympic Stadium, I may well try to catch 2.

Hasn't the official RFL or Superleague websites declared the SL attendance figures for 2014 yet?

What about the Brighouse-based publications? Have they not done so either?

Then there's Sky and loverugbyleague websites.

Personally I think England will win 2-1. I think the first game will be relatively convincing win for England followed by 2 very close games.

I hope 1 game is at the Olympic Stadium, and that we don't aim too small with the stadiums.
