Sadly me too, job is too much of a risk for those who are in a good position. I could totally understand why Briers would turn us down.

| The desperation for announcements is amusing on here. This is one of the biggest appointments that the club has ever had to make, and the club (and the prospective coach) are expected to come to that decision in a matter of days since Rowley turned the role down?
It's not just a case of accepting a role - it is deciding the make up of the back room staff, whether that coach wants his own or happy with the existing staff, relocation, kids schools, wife's job. There is so much, and the above would be added to if the next appointment is currently in a role. The club are working on it, stop putting timescales on everything.

| If Briers and McDermott have decided to stay in Aus, and the club are keen on a British coach it leaves a small pool of people.
We've missed out on Rowley. The othe r SL head coaches are pretty much out of reach.
Leaves is looking at either Championship coaches, SL assistants or Grix.
Personally don't think Grix will get the job. I'm peddling the McGuire theory
I do worry about the optics of it though. Ex Leeds Legend and Rovers fan favourite. People will turn on him pretty quickly.
Is he ready to be a head coach now? Would he even come here with his links to previous clubs?
Feels like we're fishing in a small pond

| The silence is a good sign for me. Myler obviously has a process he’s following.
He’s better placed than Adam to get the right person in.
It’s not just about one person either.
Craig Bellamy would struggle to get anything out this club with the lack of support staff in place. Hopefully that’s gets sorted as well.
As Ian Watson says “trust in the process “ ![Wink icon_wink.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_wink.gif)

| McGuire would be a strange one as he turned down the Cas head coach job , I would hazard a guess the Hull job would be a far bigger task than the Cas job in rebuilding the entire first team .

Mcguire is smart, probably looked at the state Cas were in and didn't want to be the main person in charge of that squad, bet he wouldn't have turned down Rovers or Leeds.

Might help if fans didn't put make up stories such as interview 4pm Brisbane time.

| I don’t see how as a club we can be fussy at the minute who we want or don’t want in , hardly in a position to be expecting the best coaches available. Down to personal choice , but I don’t think McDermott would be as bad as some think on here when you take out who is unavailable or who don’t want the job . My choice would be McNamara though .

| It was only a matter of time before Clark was going to leave . Carn't argue with the deals he's done commercially but player contract wise ... complete novice and were paying for it now .

Yeah, he even mentions the investment.
Whilst some of things Clarke did particularly with recruitment hasn't been great, he has obviously done alot of
Good things to the club.
I also don't belive he was fully responsible for recruitment mistakes.

| Interesting times. Clarke did a lot of good for the club in terms of marketing but probably had too much to deal with espescially in the last six years or so.
Certainly sounds likes things are progressing in terms of investment.

| Feel sorry for Clarke in a way. Absolutely fine on the commercial side. Should never have been given a role to hand out contracts. Been the fall guy for Pearson for a while.
How long we giving Pearson until he's gone? 1/2 years?

Cas will be sweating on the final IMG scores to see if they are in SL next season, so I wouldn’t read too much into any Coach turning Cas down.
Not sure about Maguire. Rookie coach, but good player who experienced several successful coaches and played in a great team.
Any coaching appointment is a risk. Very few sporting coaches are successful in every appointment, only Pep, Klopp, Anchelotti, Wenger and Fergie spring to mind in football. Mourinho has had mixed fortunes. In RL, Tony Smith is a classic example of a coach with very mixed success.
We go for an experienced coach you could get Smith or you could get a McNarmara outcome. If you go Rookie, we could end up with either a Hodgson or Matt Peat outcome. It really is a lottery.
I still think we are a very appealing appointment. Guaranteed SL status, big fan base, excellent facilities, pending investment, favourable player contract position with the ability to change most of the squad including potentially 5 quota spots and marquee signings.
Therefore, we shouldn’t sell ourselves too cheaply and go for any one currently available. However, I would like someone announced soon, even if they can’t start until the end of the season.

| Reading his statement, it appears he has/is going through some tough personal issues and should that be the case, then he needs to be in the best place. Maybe the investment has meant he feels he can go now.
