This is quite possibly the 1,000th or so thread regarding BBC coverage of the sport. Be this scheduling games for BBC2 rather than 1, sending letter of complaint to the Parliamentary RL group in the forlorn hope that anything will change, rants about how the BBC over-pay for other products, the lack of overall RL content on the BBC and their websites, the dropping of commentary from some local regional branches, the loss of the RL tab on the international BBC site etc etc etc......and I kid you not, there was actually one poster on here who claimed that the BBC should move Union below League on their sports menu to comply with alphabetic order.......this thread is just another of these bagging the BBC because they don't do enough in the opinion of some.



Gaelic Games are regionalised sports played inside the broadcast area of the BBC (360 clubs in the 6 Counties of NI)....... Neither GAA Football or Hurling have tabs dedicated to them on the site and a quick gander at some of the GAA forums sees that they don't have 15 page threads about being put down by the British Establishment via the BBC, but Rugby League, another regionalised sport inside the Broadcast area of the BBC gets its own tab on the website, its domestic cup comp broadcast live on FTA tv, Internationals and a highlights show available on-line as well as broadcast nationally, but never, ever are RL fans happy with the BBC.........after Football, Horse Racing is the most attended sport in the UK.......I would imagine that the BBC website is not the #1 source of Racing News in the UK. Then in 3rd it's Union, followed by cricket, League, Greyhounds, motorsports, Tennis, Golf........and only one group of supporters contains a handful who whine like little entitled brats about the supposed lack of coverage from the BBC or perceived agenda, or even a 2 week hiatus of no new news.



The very existence of this thread show the insecurity that runs through the veins of the game....from a handful of deluded fans decrying a media bias to people like Adam Pearson at Hull FC claiming parity with Union is a target....there is no bias and we shouldn't be competing with Union but selling our own product more efficiently.....but if there's someone or something else to blame than your average RL fan will do that rather than roll their sleeves up and get on with making the game better.....

The OP said that the BBC website is "pathetic", I say it is not and back up my stance with the fact that it is the #1 ranked News Media site in the UK. The OP expressed an opinion, I relayed FACT.

No one has claimed it to be anything other than an opinion, that you don't like people having an opinion says more about yourself.



So they're ranked number 1. Again does this mean they're perfect and without fault? When it comes to recent controversies like gender pay gaps and child abuse cases should people just say "oh well they're ranked number 1 so they can't be criticised as an organisation". Donald Trump became POTUS ahead of millions of other Americans, does this mean you can't criticise him?

Not a word on BBC breakfast sport bulletin this morning

Funnily enough was about to come on here and say the same thing. Not one of the headlines on the bbc sport website is about rugby league. There is a 'feature' article further down and a 4 sentence preview of our game right at the bottom and that is it. There is even headline on there about the women's big bash for crying out loud but nothing about rugby league.

Frankly this is disgusting from the when you consider we all pay our license fees and deserve better

Just look at Sky's website in comparison. They have a 'head to head' type article for every game. They have talking points for each club. There's even a cringeworthy interview between Tomkins, Ferres and a Cas player. BBc have just put on all the match day squads, but that's a copy and paste job. It's embarrassing.

We get comparable crowds with League 1 football and are 92% a northern based competition with the other 8% French. The BBC give us 2 stories on their sports landing page (international site) 2nd only in content to soccer.......50,000 fans a week attend games

As for the Licence fee. The BBC have a limited funding pool that has seen then drop many sports, but not RL. Remember that when you next feel the need to whine about the FTA broadcaster that gives our sport access to the largest audience available.









Nope. What is embarrassing is the need to compare SKY, who are currently broadcasting the game with the BBC who aren't.

They do have the rights to Internationals and the CC though. And the advertising for the World Cup was abysmal.
