People have been projecting the downfall of Wakefield for years and they always find a way to survive.

8? No way. I'd say there are 6 very decent looking teams in Saints, Wigan, Hull, Warrington, Castleford and Catalans. There are 3 very weak looking teams in Wakefield, Salford and Leigh. Inbetween you have Leeds who need players back ASAP, Huddersfield who are still finding their feet under a new coach but don't look terrible, and Hull KR who at the minute look a little bit in no mans land. Too good to be relegated, not good enough to make the playoffs.

From what I've seen I still fully expect Leigh to go down.

Well I wouldn't say I'm cock sure. But I predicted you to be relegated pre season and the games I've seen (yes only 2 of them admittedly) have only strengthened my belief. On paper you have the weakest squad in SL. I think Wakefield and Salford just have a bit more about them.

I've got nothing against Leigh at all. In fact I'd be more than happy to be proven wrong, and in all fairness you've played 3 tough games so far. This week against Salford will tell us a lot more I think.

Because when Leeds get some players back they potentially could make a playoff push. I mentioned their injuries specifically because that's the main reason why they currently find themselves in that middle group. Even at full strength Leigh would be one of those bottom 3 that I mention. Lots of teams have injuries.

It's a forum, you know, for giving your opinion. My opinion is that Leigh will get relegated. My opinion has no effect on anything. Get that chip off your shoulder.

And if Leigh win, you might change your mind.

Probably not, but it will be a better indicator than the game against Warrington I'm sure. If you string a few games together then I might.

To predict so early in the season is preposterous.

That's what a prediction is, it's having a guess at what we think might happen. If I wait until a side is 10 points adrift before I pick them to go down it's not really pushing the boat out is it.

I take back the bit I said about fully expecting you to go down, it was a hyperbolic statement from me. Yes, if I was going to put money on anyone to be relegated I would choose Leigh, but of course its not a foregone conclusion. I genuinely do hope I'm wrong. I always root for the underdog and if you survive after being admitted at such a late stage with no time to prepare then that's a great achievement.

So far, Salford look to be really struggling, along with Trinity and yourselves.
Of those 3 clubs, Leigh have probably most chance to improve, due to signings and getting up to speed in SL but, it's still going to be tough.
At least your Chairman has money to burn, which is less true of Salford, Trinity or KR (the other pre season relegation candidates) - Huddersfield too have been totally underwhelming , but, again, you would expect them to improve.

I thought that Huddersfield would be challenging for a top 4 spot but, they have been bang average so far.

In fairness, my response was regarding a poster who had Leigh nailed on for relegation after what they'd seen, which was 2 games against Wigan & Warrington. Leigh came very close to beating Wigan too, so yes, their prediction is preposterous.

New coach, 10 (I think) new players and 3 fixtures to start against the best team in the comp (Saints), a team expected by most to be top 3/4 (Hull) and a team we always get beat by (and usually hammered) away from home (they've also not lost a game between them yet). Whilst the performances haven't been great there are mitigating circumstances. Last year we won 1 out of the first 7 and were every bit as toothless in attack, yet we ended up having a decent season overall.

I'm yet to start pressing the panic button yet as it will take Marshall time to know his best team. The spine is a bit of a concern though as Escare had a 'mare at the weekend and Brown looks like it's one season too far.

Pack wise and back wise we're fine though and I think a win on Friday against Leigh (which won't be easy) could be the kick-start we need.

Well actually your performance against Wigan just made me think even more strongly that you would go down. To put in so much effort like you did and still lose an 18 point lead against a badly misfiring team really didn't bode well.

I said Wigan were misfiring in that game, I never mentioned their injuries. Yeah Leigh had some players missing, so what? Every team has injuries.

I don't know why I am bothering to go round in circles here, but before a ball was kicked I predicted with confidence that Leigh would get relegated. Your performances against Wigan and Warrington didn't do anything to make me doubt that prediction. You have since lost comprehensively to a Huddersfield side that so far have been really disappointing. Then lost heavily to a decent (but not world beating) Castleford.

You may prove me wrong and survive. Either way it doesn't really bother me. Its just my prediction on a forum where the whole point is to give your opinion on rugby league matters.
