All that moaning about how biased Clarke is and then we had the Wilkin Saints love in. Can’t wait to see him in action at Wembley.

Jonathan Davies is not a Welsh miner but a Welsh whiner. He is such a depressing commentator. He has little to say that is insightful. He prefers cliches like "ball watching."

Get him off! He is doing the game no good by being on the BBC.

I don't come on here a lot and wasn't aware that there are other threads moaning about Davies. My moan was based purely on the fact that the BBC is the best opportunity and widest showcase the game has to appeal to a new audience. His negativety certainly doesn't do that, I was watching with some work colleagues that don't normally watch RL and it was their comments that prompted the post. If people from outside the game can see it then something really does need to be done. I can't recall any football commentators being that negative

Sounded as though Dave Woods doesn't have a lot of time for Davies either. A few barbed shots.

The RFL could do with getting BBC interested in showing games from the Championship downwards & get the gospel out to a wider public than rip off sky.

The wife can't stand Jonathan's voice but i wonder if he keeps the people in the Valleys interested in RL.

I said much the same as this whilst watching. Rarely a positive thing to say- and from his comments hasn’t recognised the game’s moved on since his days playing.
As for JJB - I really don’t get how he’s managed to get commentary roles- you can’t understand a thing he says most of the time!

To be fair, all the people involved with the game on the BBC are walking cliches. Jon Wilkin is the worst offender, closely followed by JJB

If RL wants to attract a new audience through it's TV coverage, we could do with pundits that are both well spoken and knowledgeable or, perhaps go with Aussie or KIwis.
I know that we have a Northern based sport but, to those outside the M62 corridor and especially those in the South, JJB and Peacock do nothing to change peoples perception of the game and much as I think they are ok their presence in the studio is akin to having Eddie Waring doing all of the commentary.
Great knowledge but just "too northern"
We keep on hearing how we must expand the game and attract new audiences but, while ever we stick with this format, it just isnt going to happen.
Having said that, for those of us who live in the heartlands and enjoy the game, Saturdays coverage was excellent, form the Women's final , which was a tight encounter, the Wire v Hull game which again, was close and a decent watch, to the plucky fight of Halifax, who, although never looked like scoring, battled till the end against Saints.

I know hes an obnoxious character, but in a few months Boris Johnson will be out of a job - and he appears to be able to sell ice cream to Eskimos. Maybe we could employ him on a zero hours contract.

davies' main problem is, he clearly doesn't watch the product, there's no point rolling him out if he's not paying attention to what's going on in superleague.

He may not watch the product. But that is not his main problem. To be brutally honest, his main problem is that he is not very bright.

Jon Wilkin is at least intelligent and somewhat educated.

Another minor BBC whinge:

Despite it being a rather quiet Saturday afternoon for sport - BBC Radio 5 Live chose to put commentary of F1 Qualifying for the German Grand Prix on its main AM channel, pushing the RL Semi (Warrington & Hull) onto 5 Live Sports Extra (digital channel).

Despite F! being the equivalent to watching paint dry, it's a massively bigger sport than RL, so, no surprise in RL playing second fiddle.

F1 is one of those sports that I've never really got. I can see its popular and so I've tried - but sadly it's a bit like the kings new clothes. The same applies to tennis, golf, snooker, darts and horse racing. Where am I going wrong?

That is unfair. Brian Noble is a good man, a nice man. He has many uncliched thoughts, unlike the Welsh Whiner, Jonathan Davies.

JJB shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a camera.

JJB, with his unintelligible northern accent and rapid fire speech, is along with the Welsh whiner, the worst advertisement for rugby league imaginable. This is especially true in the context of trying to attract and retain some of the highly educated viewers of the BBC.
