10K at Salford and Hudds
almost 9K at Rovers

even Quins got 3.5K for a 'dead rubber' fixture.

Whilst that is all positive news pal no-one seems to be interested! It's all doom-mongers on here! If Salford for 5K crowd today I could gather this thread would have more replies than the presant.

No free tickets were given out. Just prices lowered and children free accompanied by an adult the same deal they have at huddersfield.

Don't want to take it away from you, but sky news were reporting on this for a couple of hours before kick off, and pointing out how many fans were coming from other clubs across the country for a final time before the stadium is gone.

These were not Salford fans, so by definition surely are away fans?

Remember the RUGBY world cup is on, when you move advertise the RUGBY at the new ground, the good folk of Trafford,Urmston and Davyhulme wont know any difference and will turn up in droves - especially when you advertise WILKINSON will be there.

Sky News must have blown this out of proportion... The majority of the crowd were there in Salford colours... Even if 1,000 people turned up from other clubs 9k+ Reds fans is some achievement considering that we get so much stick for low support.

Give the club some credit for a change please.

I was at the Willows yesterday (on a corporate session), it was a very good crowd and the majority were Salford fans. A few well known faces in the ground - Andy Gregory, Adrian Morley, Matt King, Sean Long, Ian Millward.

There was actaully around 150 tickets given away for the academy game. Although i had heard you had sold over 7K alone on pre sale which is pretty impressive for salford. I wish you luck in your new home at Barton, of course not when widnes come into town

See, I thought this. Watching the match on TV I thought it was obviously around the 16-17k mark, but the SL website has it down as 10,845

I noticed that and seen as Hull average around 12k I was suprised the crowd was so low. Must have been a mistake.

9 wins out of the last 10 games for the academy, finishing with a 32-4 win over Wire. If Widnes all conquering academy side had a similar run of results we would never hear the end of it.

Just to cheer some of you guys up,there were some surprisingly low crowds at the weekends Premiership Rugby Union:
Wasps v Leicester 5,078.
Exeter v Newcastle 5,405.
Sale v Irish 6547.

Perhaps due to the World Cup being on,so leading players missing or perhaps a sign of the times! The Wasps and Exeter figures would be particularly concerning.

Thats great, do you have many Salford lads in that team or are you still reliant on the Rochdale/Oldham, Saints/Wire and Wigan/Leigh RL playing towns to get a side out?

I'm fairly sure the Sale crowd was 5k ish too mate from what I was told on the night. Don't worry-I didn't go. I'd rather put a razor blade in my eye.

No academy has 1-17 local born players; we scout players from other areas like everybody else and saints especially good at poaching players.

Do you only have widnes born lads in your academy

Considering we are supposedly getting the scraps from the areas mentioned above, I think that makes the fact that our 18s have had such a good season an even better achievment than if it was all local lads. Wouldn't you agree?
