Do Leeds council have the power to scratch the project? And are they in favour/against it? I want Rugby League teams to have the best facilities around, so I want Wakey to get that cracking looking stadium.'"
I don't know the situation over in Yorkshre, but I do know that objections to the retail element of Salford's site by Manchester City Council played a part in the Salford project being called in for public inquiry (although the objection was withdrawn before the actual inquiry took place). It may depend on how the land is designated for use in the unitary development plan.

As a Barrow fan, I've got to disagree with this. Just look at the last time Barrow played a SL team at home. Last season's Challenge Cup vs Wigan ... official attendance 6,300 sellout (although after a fairly last minute increase in capacity there was more like 8,000 there). This year in the Challenge Cup Widnes were at home to Wigan .... official attendance 5,504.
There wasn't much of a difference between both clubs followings for the NR Cup final last year and Barrow fans far outnumbered Fax fans in the Grand Final last October.
8,000 fans travelled over to Sunderland for the FA Cup match and the same amount went down to Wembley when Barrow AFC played in the FA Trophy Final. My point being that sports fans in the South Cumbria area turn out in large numbers when a top class sporting occasion is on offer.
Super League would mean regular top class sporting occasions.

Would it be as special if it was every other week though? I'd love to see a Barrow team in Super League but I'm not sure the crowds would average as high as the figures you quoted. However you could argue that on that basis Barrow have just as much right to be there as Harlequins, Salford, Wakefield and Huddersfield (taking the cheap season tickets into account).

Sez who? Your proof?
Home League Attendances. (Source - RLFans)
2009
Barrow - 2,280
Fax - 2,325
2010 (so far)
Barrow - 1,823
Fax - 2,326
You can't just quote a one-off cup game as being any sort of indicator of projected attendances.

| Sorry SRC but i'm in agreement with Fax Machine and Catalancs here, i've said before that Barrow will be a big player the next set of franchises after 2012 if they can start to fulfill the potential they clearly have.

| Cas or Wakey will miss out, Both will be told shortly if they dont ground share, Both face the boot
They will then go ahead with the ground share in Cas..... Which will possibly keep both in, Going to be an interesting one this time around.. And a nervous one for all us Cas fans, As our BOD are a complete joke

| Don't think we deserve to stay in after the shambles this year (I'm a Cas fan) unless we get a stadium, our crowds have been pathetic and there seems to be no atmosphere at home any more....Hull outsinging us and outnumbering us on Saturday just took the mick...i've never been so embarrassed to say i'm a Cas fan

Catalans
Toulouse
Harlequins
Crusaders
Huddersfield
Castleford/Wakefield
Salford
Sheffield
quite simple really build a staduim between cas and wakey john kear should be able to make a good side out of them.
Build Salford a staduim, works started so no problem.
Relocate hkr to sheffield, only a couple of their players are from hull so the rest will be happy to get out and to better facilities.
With Toulouse give them a bigger cap and let them spend it on rugby union players till they can develop their own players.
I was thinking of widnes and Leigh but their to close to other clubs and if their fans can't be bothered to travel a few miles to watch super league then sod them.

this is something ive also been told, there is supposed to be a meeting if its not already taken place with all concerned parties and the wmdc will nail their colours to the mast by saying they will only back one stadium in the district and the proposed destination will be glasshoughton.
ive heared rumours before but the same same person told me about land been secured against the grounds 6 month before it was public knowledge and ive no reason not to believe this either.
imo one of either cas or wakey willl drop out unless the clubs play ball which would be great shame because both clubs do has well has any when it comes to developing young players.

I'd share a ground with you guys if it meant us both staying in Super League under the names of Castleford and Wakefield, wouldnt you ?
If it's ok for the Munich teams, Milan teams then i think it's gonna be ok for Cas and Wakie.

| I'm looking from a distance, but if you're both struggling to get a stadium, you could share one, sell the old ones and share the overheads at the new one, sounds like a good idea to me.

Likewise your figures can be viewed as flawed as we still have the league's big boys to play at home this season.
Our crowd average has increased every season in the last 4 , but have sort of plateaued recently, we are taking 1500 ish to Saints at the weekend & if this game was at home we could have seen a 8000 sell out.
A big awakening is happening to both the Footy & Rugby teams Barradise

| I know many love to hate Hull KR but I don't think there are many SL clubs who would want to lose them. We generally take anything from 1500 to 2500 to away games and to lose that would leave a big hole in the revenues of some clubs.

Taken from the article:
Conservative councillor Joe Marjoram said:
"The development's just not welcome and it's just not right. We should oppose it."
With that kind of razor sharp and insightful opposition Wakey's new stadium doesn't stand a chance!!!
