I don't think Myler would dare make such a risky appointment as his first coaching appointment.
I mean I know every option comes either risks, and Briers would carry a degree of risk, but at least he has some positive press around him and has been in some good, winning environments. Soward is coaching a women's team and seemingly a not that great one.
Think Myler knows we need at least a good level assistant coach.

He was a great player but this would be a brave and random appointment. As random as appointing Myler as DoR, I suppose.

To be fair, it could just be as simple as Soward contacted the club to say he's interested, and we gave him an interview/had talks with him out of courtesy.

I'd take Mcdermott over Soward

The more his name keeps cropping up the more I'm convinced it'll be McDermott

at least we know if mcdermott is appointed that our style of play will be frustrating, inconsistent, erratic, unstructured and reliant on individuals to pull a rabbit out of the hat. Pretty much what we've had since about 2007

Not sure if it’s a case of getting the coach we need over the coach we want.

I thought we needed Tony Smith 18 months ago, so I’ve given up trying to work out who it should be.

I'd have Jason Demetriou over Mcdermott, the last 12 months have been disappointing for him, but if you look at his coaching career he has a pretty successful record.

I'd be disappointed with Mcdermott but when names like Soward are being thrown around his appointment would come as a relief.

Think he stays in the NRL as an assistant tbh. He lost control at Souths big time. Took them from a semi final to missing out on the play off last year, now they're bottom.

Not saying he's a bad coach but he probably needs some time to reflect instead of jumping in to a head coach role

He has a good record of success of turning clubs around Barring Souths , I think Demetriou would do a great job here .
