My first thoughts was that after comments have been made in the media about strengthening the back room staff, this was Taylor's "come get me" message to Hull. But to be honest if he wanted to be back at the club I don't think he'd go to the media. I imagine he'd have no hesitation in just getting on the phone and asking if there's anywhere he can slot in.
I can see it been the first option you said and it's a bit of foreshadowing before he gets announced back at the club later in the week.
