| Quote ="Inflatable_Armadillo"The South Stand at Leeds is rumoured to be scheduled for demolition in August straight after the Cas game with The Rhinos playing their last home fixture against Wakefield and potential play-off games at another venue, likely to be Elland Road of course. The new replacement South Stand (along with the first new pitch for 80 years) is due to be opened in time for start of 2012 season.
The lodgers will probably still play at Headingley and just do without the South Stand we assume?'"
That's good to hear, they'll have to get a wriggle on to get it done so quick though! Any pics of the new South Stand design?
If you make the playoffs and play at Elland Road you could promo it and let fans in for a few quid and get some monster crowds.
The lodgers can still play on the piych whilst they are relaying it, grass or no grass!

8 of 14 teams isn't bad going at all.
Then Add the fact that Hudds, FC, Wigan, Widnes(Lets not kid ourselves they are weeks away from being given the nod), Crusaders(I think not totally sure), Quins (Seems ok and pleasent enough) not needing an awful lot doing to their grounds which takes us to 14 teams.
Now taking into account that only 13 of those 14 teams will probably be in SL next year does that put extra pressure on the only club not in any of those lists that being Bradford?

Nothing happening yet for these two and both fail to provide even the basic requirements for SL , and have done so for several years

Not a pop , just the truth'" No but at least they have stuff in the 'pipeline'.
Now the fact that 'pipeline' is idiotically long is another subject
Now even taking what you say into account that still only leaves 2/3 out of 14 now compare that to only 5/10 years ago.
The diffrence in the facilities when the clubs working/about to start finish their works to back then will be amazing. IMHO.
Plus OFC there are a few clubs in the chapionship with great facilities as well

depends what weighting the RFL place on the ground criteria for the next licensing round really. RFL didnt have any massive problems with odsal as it stands last round with only comment it could be improved, rather than the warnings they issued to cas, wakey, crusader, salford and saints. Club are working very hard behind scenes to make improvements anyway, and now white elephant of the sporting village seems to have died a death due to economy, we're probably in a better position to make improvements ourselves in stages rather than trying to do a total revamp in one hit.

I think I heard that they are putting a 4G pitch in there with the help of LSV's current groundsmen. Our pitch is like a billiard table. And that's in a stadium built across from a flash.

Odsal despite being a bit of a dump provides the majority of the requirements of SL , including capacity , seats and covered area , unlike Cas and Wakey

exactly, which is why RFL dont currently have a problem with it. If we gradually roof over the popular and rooley avenue ends over the next few years then I dont think we have anything to worry about tbh. And provided we do it in stages its probably something the club could afford to do on its own and also without having to move out while the work is done.

Cas have the required capacity (12k) and have less uncovered areas than bradford admittadly cas dont have many seats but thats mainly due to cas fans not really wanting seats and very few away fans bothering with the ones we do have.

No , its because you dont/didn't have the money to put them in , and the RFL were how shall we say ' sympathetic ' to your predicament
Although this situation has intrigued me , when the new stadia at Saints , Salford and Cas [ if it happens are built , will we see the main stands empty , with the standing area's packed , it will look rather odd on the TV'"
the position at Saints will be, in effect, how it is at Widnes now. 1 side of seats full, 1 side of seats empty, 1 end terrace full of home fans, 1 end terrace full of away fans.

I agree.
The decision seems to have been around having a main stand for fans, and a whole stand on the side reserved for corporate hospitality

didnt say it wouldnt be difficult and hence why I said doing it in financially manageable stages. But a few million for a roof is more achievable target than the 25-35 million the complete stadium redvelopment was going to cost.
Given that we've been blocked from partnership schemes with likes of tesco etc who have funded stadiums for wire, saints, wigan etc and as we cant borrow against the land as we dont own the site (but have a very long lease) then we have to think outside the box a little.

except according to the RFL when the last licenses were awarded we did fall into the 2nd group. We probably will be required to make improvements this time round, but we werent required to last time despite everyone assuming we were.

The club consulted the fans, that's why it's like it is. The South Stand (popular side) invariably sells out.

| The Cas proposals at GH are the same as Warrington except that the end seating stand is going to be the away stand not a home stand like at HJ, because of the concert format. Cas have gone for a similar arrangement that works for them now and I expect that the long 'standing' terrace along the touch-line will not be an exclusive home only stand but that the end standing terrace will be, as it sort of is by default at WR.
To be fair, Cas are now going to have time to amend their plans if they so wished by sticking in a planning amendment at some point between getting the reserved matters approval in April/May and start of construction, at the earliest now RW is saying, of early 2012.
