The important thing now is for Warrington management to act responsibly, identify the hooligans, and then ban them for life.

This video in slow motion shows the fight in all its glory, taken by a journalist behind the sticks.
Shows that Mcllorum tackle made initial contact with upper forearm of wire player and then bounced into his throat area. I would say its one of those tackles were the player is trying to get away with a cheap shot by making the initial contact as high as legally possible knowing the fore arm will then slide up into the face.
On the subject of the wire player being tackled. He has been criticised by both chris chester and Justin Holbrook for his technique when running into the tackle. He angles the right side of his body into the tackle so he leads with his forearm and right shoulder.

I would say it is much more serious than that.
If crimes were committed inside the stadium then it is only correct that the Police conduct a criminal investigation into the matter. |

As a Warrington fan I am inevitably blinkered in the same way that any opposition fans are also blinkered. What we need now is an independent review of the whole game, including how it was refereed, in order to determine what went wrong, to punish those guilty and to make sure it doesnt happen again.

The RFL need to send out a strong message and set an example to other sports to restore reputation. I think the best way would be debarring Warrington from the Challenge Cup final. Perhaps, reinstating Hull to provide some opposition to Saints. I think something that strong is required.

On-field and off-field issues are completely separate in my view.
However the game is perceived to be refereed (and be in no doubt, I’m not great lover of James Child), it went wrong because a small minority of people couldn’t behave themselves properly. I don’t buy into blaming either club - they don’t control how individuals behave. The blame here lies with the individuals involved in violence, and both clubs should be identifying and banning them. |

I would think the match review panel will be salivating at the prospect of banning some very immature people. I don't think Child could do much more than he did and for people to blame him for this is way out of line. Hill, Tomkins, Mcullorum et al need the book throwing at them for the potential harm they've done to the image of our sport.

Let's hope there is CCTV inside the stadium so that there can be an investigation on how the incident started. A few seconds of footage doesn't give the whole story, I've heard Catalans have previous for antagonising away supporters.
Maybe the solution is to ensure no mixed stands at the stadium.
