I think he did very well to convert from prop to wing/fullback and the name change to Lee Smith has done him no end of good.

Damo that shoulder barge is the worst kind of attack apart from a deliberate punch/knee/head butt, If you have played the game you know the reason why its done and if like a well aimed punch its consequences, the sooner this sort of "non tackle" is deemed illegal the better, no attempt is made in that or another shoulder barge to tackle a player it is banned in RU as they understand why it is done. No skill is needed to perform it; maybe that’s why bailey is obviously good at it!!!!!!!

Can we put an end to it by simply saying everyone in everyone's team is the hardest and fairest and every player you have or have ever had is a 'true' RL hardman even when they have been guilty of idiotic, thuggish or cowardly acts. Those who go on about Bailey "being a thug" and "hiding" in that game might want to watch the next couple of minutes after the incident with Fa'asavalu. IIRC the next Leeds set Saint Kieron of Pukka attempts to twist a Leeds player's head off in a grapple. Leeds kick to touch and first up from the tap restart is Bailey, who runs 20 yards infield to go straight at James Graham who had been doing his usual jaw flapping.

Doesn't sound like a player who "goes hiding" to me, but hey what would I, Tony Smith, Brian McLennan and David Waite (IIRC - think Waite was in charge when Bailey played for GB) know about it compared to you folks?

Dont forget the other myth that Bailey was "taught a lesson" by Sculthorpe, what actually happened was that Sculthorpe punched him several times off the ball whilst Bailey kept his cool and didnt retaliate, then the coward referee did nothing to sculthorpe because it was at Knowsley Road

Andy i have never condoned ANY player amature or pro delivering a shoulder barge, in my eyes its a cheap shot. you wont find me "creaming" over anyone receiving an attack from a shoulder barge, as you have witnessed it is done to cause injury usually a facial or concussion one and sometimes a shoulder one to the so called defender......a poor excuse for a tackle by any player.

have a look on a well known video hosting website and search for bailey and rauhihi, and see how quickly our Ry can back pedal when required.

Ryan Bailey is the greatest wind up merchant in the world. People bang on about how he goes hiding etc. He goes hiding after sparking something off so the opposition can't get a return hit on him, not because he's soft but before he knows it'l put the opposition off their game plan.

I wouldn't swap Ryan for anyone.

Sculthorpe was more than capable of unleashing a couple of beauties, but those really werent. A Punch at a player playing the ball that simply knocked the player into the player behind him wasnt Sculthorpes proudest moment.

Look at him against Australia (Fitzgibbon i think) to see Sculthorpe unleash a couple of beauties, his handbags against Bailey wouldnt even merit a mention if it wasnt Bailey he had hit.

He played well in those games but none of you Bailey haters will admit that you'd just prefer to chelp about what you think he is.
As for his hit-ups in the last GF watch it again and watch how batters your mob in defence and virtually walks over the invisible man.

The key word here is team, obviously. Ryan Bailey may not be the best individual prop around, but his job in the team that's won the last 3 GF's is pretty well-defined. Most of the the better individual props named will probably never win 4 GF winners medals for as long as they play.

I think that's what the Stains fans are having trouble grasping. Hope this helps.

If James Graham or Sam Burgess were prepared to come to Leeds for Bailey's supposed salary then yes, I'd consider swapping him them.

Then again, salary cap management isn't the sort of thing that St Helens have got a very good grasp of really is it?
