Re-reading my somewhat angry post you are quite correct with your response, and I apologise unreservedly to both TO and Catalans, who are fine RL clubs doing their best to succeed in their respective leagues. I'm truly sorry if I've offended any of their true supporters in any way.

Sadly I won't be. I had been hoping to make the trip, but when the fixtures came out we already had another holiday booked that clashes with the TO game. I'll be missing the home game with Bradford as well.

Pity, Toulouse is a great place and worth a visit.

I'd personally like to see Catalans in the middle 8's. Nothing against them but as all there home games are televised it'd mean there would be more coverage of the middle 8's. Summer Bash showed last weekend that Championship rugby is very entertaining, wish it was regularly televised.

I would not like to see Catalans in the Middle 8s. We need two (2) French clubs in Super League, not one (1). Toulouse and Catalans in Super League will create a local derby that will light up southwestern France with rugby league fever. Plus it will create a bigger corps of professional players to choose from for the French national team.

We need Avignon in the Championship as well ASAP and if that is successful then Paris will follow soon after.

Be interesting if the mpg was between TO and Catalan. Wonder what crowd that would bring?!

Didn't expect that you'd want them in the Middle 8's to be honest.

I'm all for expansion, but if Super League ended up with to many teams from abroad I'd soon become disenchanted with it; unless they increased the amount of teams.

Why so? As long as they bring competition, fans, money and is good for the sport.

You may have heard of the Champions League and the RU version both which have made massive increases in sponsors. People want too see pan-european competion not Wigan v Toulouse not Wigan v small town next to Wigan.

Obviously I've heard of those competitions; but did those competitions replace the domestic league of a country or were they an additional competition???

We're doing our bit for expanding the game and improving international competition by welcoming French/Welsh/Canadian clubs into the fold; but if we ended up with plenty of the clubs being foreign based and neglecting the heartland areas we could start to suffer.

Plus, clearly RL is struggling financially overall. Could clubs survive with having say 4 home games per season with no (or very little) away support?

The ideal situation would be for enough decent French teams to emerge for them to have there own highly competitive league, and start a CL style comp. Can't see it happening, and no idea where it'd fit into the calendar but it's an interesting concept.

RU set up the pro 12 with Scottish, Irish, Welsh and Italian clubs.

What they didn't do was set up a 4 team league, like people seem to be suggesting France do.

If these people thought they could have 10 full time teams, don't they think they would by now?

Toulouse have come from behind to beat Batley at Batley -- despite having many Toulouse stars out injured.
