You'd have thought so, certainly early on. Just get older folk to get you 1/2 a shandy in on your behalf.

I'd be surprised, I don't know of anyone who has ever been ID'd in a sports stadium anywhere.

Quick question around the tickets....

My mate just dropped ours off and they have the 4 categories at the bottom with crosses through 3 of the boxes. I'm an adult season ticket holder at Wigan so presumed the box that should be left 'uncrossed' on my ticket would be the 'adult season ticket' one yet these have only the 'regular concession' box left blank.

We've bought 5 adult tickets all for season ticket holders and 2 concessions for season ticket holders and all the adult ones are the same with the regular concession box being the one thats left blank.

Have Wigan screwed up here? It looks like it to me and being in York all day tomorrow on a stag do before heading straight to Manchester on Sunday isn't leaving me anytime to sort out!

Nah, they barely even looked at us. It would be fairly easy to sneak whatever in.

If you`ve got a bag the stewards will look a quick look inside.

The steward on our gate asked what was in our bag, we said that we had sandwiches and he let us straight through. They don't seem too fussed to me

Trawlerman's apocalyptic scenario didn't occur then.

The stewards were friendly and looked to be enjoying the easier time they were getting compared to football.

I also felt that. very laid back, not at all like the doom mongering that was voiced by certain people before the event. nobody even looked in my bag, one guy on the outer gate just squeezed it to make sure i wasnt carrying any cans. everyone in my group of 16 had some sort of food with them, nobody had any bother. it was my first magic weekend, and despite the drubbing my team took i had a very good time, i was especially enjoying all the lovely rugby league girls in denim shorts and tight rugby shirts

Well done to the stewards and medical teams for their quick response to a chap who was having a fit of some sort in block 128 shortly before the Hull game. He looked in a pretty bad way and they had to do CPR for a short period but thankfully they brought him round quite quickly and were able to get him to an ambulance.

This was our first Magic Weekend and we really enjoyed the day (the less said about Ganson the better...but that is for a different thread)

as others have already posted the Stewards and Police seemed really relaxed and chilled out, and none of the 'rules' about Food and Drink being brought in to the ground seemed to apply.

the only negative point is that I think the RFL will be disapointed with a first day crowd of 30K, which is similar to what we got in Cardiff who's council was 'topping up' the gate money by paying the RFL to host it there. Given the low ticket prices this year i'm not sure the RFL would have even made money on yesterday. With the weekend being held on the M62 I honestly expected about 40K yesterday.

I think the choice of games may have made an impact of yesterdays attendance.First up was a game between 2 bottom 4 sides without big followings followed by a training session for Warrington and with the gap of well over an hour between each game it seemed to me that once supporters had seen their team play they drifted away rather than be kicking their heels waiting for the last game.
Todays attendance should be nearer the 40 k with the games coming thick and fast with only 2 hours between each kick off time.
On another note IMO the Hull derby should be first up in future because of the usual idiots who'd been on the bevvy all day causing trouble on the concourse after the game.Didnt see any trouble between any other teams supporters after the previous 2 games.

TBH it's always pretty laid back at our place for the footy, except for the local dery when all the mad rags come out of the woodwork
