With all due respect to Salford I'm glad we have got them on that week. I don't expect many Hull players to be called up but I think Briscoe will probably feature and Danny Tickle and Jordan Tansey might get a look in if they continue their early season form so I'm glad we havn't got a real tough game.

Why didn't they have this sorted a couple of months ago to allow games from that weekend to be moved to the start like the Leeds/Cru and Quins/Wakey game? I talk of the Cas/Catalans game in particular. It's pretty clear these Tests are an after-thought every year.

Because this is one area we should follow union on and make players play tests during league rounds.
The top teams can do without their best players for a week, the spreads pretty even these days anyway

Yes but no union team is going to lose 10 or 12 players from their team so the spread isn't even for the French. Catalans would struggle to field 17 blokes if their players were stood down for this game. In fact they'd struggle to field 13.

Catalans of course get a postponement but there's no reason the other 12 clubs can't play

I'm saying that if they'd organised themselves better the RFL could have had Catalans play their game at the start like the other games that needed to be brought forward. Now they will have to hope they don't make the CC final and can fit it in at some point. An earlier decision also would have meant SL games could have been scheduled for the Saturday and Sunday and left the Friday free for the Test. Those games on the Friday will now either have to be moved or be played in direct opposition to the Test.

exept that playing club games on the same night as an international would shave a few off the crowds in either direction, if the international was played on a blank weekend, wales could play someone too, but stuff like that is far too complex for the rfl it seems.

This match is in fact a 17:00 kick off, preceded by Skolars playing York at the Stoop as a double header to celebrate our club's 30th anniversary. (I think our club had originally hoped to have the Skolars v Leigh and Quins v Wigan fixtures as a double header before Leigh were reprieved from relegation.) Everyone at our club will be seriously cheesed off if our big day is disrupted as a result of this international being scheduled for the same day.

sure france havent been the strongest against england but the success of les cats has revived the game in france

Are you on glue? When has an England v France friendly that coincides with a round of Super League fixtures ever been likely to draw 20,000? We'd have virtually match the Four Nations crowd to fill Leyth on that night.

I don't think its a coincidence that there are no big games or derby matches on international weekend. I knew they RFL wouldn't allow say Leeds V St Helens or even Hull FC V Wigan to come up

wigan wire & saints should not be playing on the same weekend when theres an international on in leigh it could knock a few thou off the gate,how goods that going to look on TV

Which is the odd one out?

A 12000 capacity is fine for this game at the moment. The stadiums good but its a poor choice for an international, theres no train station in leigh and I cant see many clubs putting on coaches to the game meaning anyone who doesnt drive cant go.

less than 12K at doncaster for 4 nations game. loads of free tickets flying around on that day too, and that did not co-incide with any other games.

25 minute bus ride from Bolton or Wigan (buses every 10 minutes from either), or if you are going via Manchester then a train from Victoria to Atherton and 10 minute bus/taxi ride, or even get the bus from Shudehill. Job's a good 'un.

This fixture has built up no momentum and should have stayed in France. Despite the gallant effort from the French at Doncaster in the 4 nations they have conceded big scores in the last 2 mid season tests and that is with home advantage.

This game should continue to be played in the South of France until such time as the gap has been narrowed by the raising of the standard of the French team. This fixture will remain a non-event with the English public until that time.

Has no-one at the RFL thought to check the Football World Cup fixtures?

Leigh is a bit of Nightmare to get to, I can see where he is coming from. There won't be all that many coming over from Yorkshire and it will be a muddle of Wigan, Saints, Leigh & Warrington supporters there. It should be a good game. it's a lovely little stadium, glad it's getting these types of games.
